If I remember correctly, this TV has a couple of constraints that will cramp your style:

1. It supports 480i, 480p and 1080i. NO 720P
2. It has component video inputs, but NO HDMI. (as you stated)

There is no easy solution here, because I've never found an upconverting DVD player that would upconvert anything past 480p using the analog component outputs...

So..

Perhaps you can find an Upconverting BLU-RAY disk player that may allow older DVDs to be upconverted to 1080i via the component outputs.

MOST Blu-Ray players allow 1080i output via the analog connections on Blu-Ray discs, so perhaps there is your solution.

I have a mitsubishi HD1080 series TV and wanted to know how do I plug in a dvd player. Then how do I get it to play.

Connect an HDMI cable from the DVD's HDMI port to an unused HDMI port on the TV. Select the input from the settings menu and name it DVD or select the DVD name. Turn the DVD player ON. Using the input select button on the remote, select the HDMI DVD input. Wait a few seconds while the TV and DVD player establish a connection. The DVD player menu should appear. Insert a DVD and enjoy a movie. Hope this helps. Regards.

I have been trying to hook my dvd player up to my WD-52528 mitsubishi, but i am having touble trying to figure it out so i can watch a movie, and i have misplaced my manuel.can anybody help me?

If you have an upconvert dvd player use a hdmi cable, it's the easiest. If not use component cables for video (red green and blue, labeled Y, pb, pr on the back of the tv) and standard left & right ( red and white) for audio.

Hook up a lg blueray player to mitsubishi medallion 65"

Yes, there is an adapter which will take the hdmi output of the blue-ray and convert it to dvi. You will also need to connect the blue-ray audio out (rca jacks) since the hdmi is both audio and video (digital) and the dvi is video only.

High Def.

If you are using the component inputs it will select 1080i automatically IF that is what it is being sent. Make sure your device (cable/satellite receiver) is set to 1080i. The TV recognizes 480i, 480p(progressive scan DVD player) and 1080i. It DOES NOT recognize 720p. Since it has no HDMI or DVI input it can't do HD DVD or "upconvert" DVD but it does very nicely with 480p/progressive scan.

How do I change the Format from 480 1080i

Make sure that the DVD player is set to output 1080i. Then, check that you have hooked up the DVD player to the TV via the HDMI cable. If you are using something other than the HDMI cable, they the best you can do is 480p.

Hdmi Issue

Most new HDMI DVD players use High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)on the HDMI output. If you try to play this on an older TV that is not compliant with these new standards it will not work. This standard came out late in 2004 that is why your older player still works. There is also a service bulletin from JVC about upgrading the software on your TV for HDMI compatiblity issues. If you want a pdf file of the bulletin I can send it to you.
