Pitt_Fan, wondering if you found the answer to your problem. I too am looking at replacing our NAS drives (3 of) with one big 4 bay RAID capable system from Buffalo - so am wondering what you think of it, and it's service support?

    thanks.

Certainly we can help,

This generally means you have a hardware failure in the drive or enclosure. The simplest way to test which is to have a hardware tech move the drive into a new enclosure and see if it works.

This will void your warranty if you do it, so, if the drive is under warranty and there are no files you consider valuable on the drive, call the manufacturer for warranty support.

If you value the data more than the drive is worth then take it to your local hardware vendor and ask them to test the hard drive in a new enclosure. Good odds it will work this way but if not you may need the help of a data recovery specialist.

In North America I use Armor-IT, if you are in a different region and the new enclosure fails to garner results, comment back with your region(Country, State, City) and I will supply you with the closest reputable facility.

SOURCE: Unfortunately I formated my BUFFALO

Dear Shaji,

I think u used File recover software for recovering the file. Same thing happened to me also. My brother got one HDD from his friend. I will explain u, how to recover or to detect HDD.

I have a suggestion.

I think u r believing in god. So first pray and put the HDD in USB port. After that also, if u are getting same issue means, you can give this HDD to some other great intelligent beautiful people... Like your MACHU (cousin)

My Buffalo hard drive was working fine earlier today, but suddenly stopped working when I wasn't around. I have a bunch of data on it that won't be easy to recover. Is there anything I can do?

Check again after cooling a while. It might be better to get it serviced by Disk Specialists who can perhaps rescue your data if it is important and you do not have a backup.

Mac OSx 10.8 cannot search BUFFALO TS-8VH24TL/R6 24TB

Specs only indicate Windows. No iOS. Might be cause of the RAID configuration / software.

Though it does support HTTP and FTP protocols.

How to install antivirus in Buffalo Tsx40tlr5 Terastation

You have antivirus installed on this NAS system? You will want to look up the product manual for that product and see if it allows antivirus programs to be installed. Some NAS stations come with built in anti virus. You could even contact their support to get a list of "SUPPORTED" anti virus software. At which point, you will have to telnet or console into the data storage system and install the software. You could probably install the files through a CIFS connection but it would be best to contact Buffalo support as they can walk you through the proper steps.
