Problem for Camcorders

Generic problem for all Camcorders

No power

I have an RCA Camcorder Pro 8 which has not been used for over 10 years, but when it was put into the closet it was working. I don't have any power even when I hook it up through the Power Connector with the AC Adapter/Charger, so it is not a question od old batteries. I have not yet replaced the clock battery. Does that matter?

- Canon ZR500 Camcorder, new from store, never used...won't work!

We got a Canon ZR500 new at a sale from a national Office supply store about a year ago. We just now opened the box. All was in place and looks like it had never been open. BUT it won't work at all. Plugged in it should work on AC power but no activity. The cassette cartridge will not even open. The light that indicates the battery is charging doesn't light up.

Are there any suggestions before we consider it a complete loss?
