I have a side by side electrolux fridge which no longer provides water via the water dispenser or ice maker. after checking - water is getting through to the firge but no further that I can tell. ho

I appreciate your post, kay hyde!
From what you have described your Electrolux refrigerator is not dispensing water from the dispenser. Your post stated that water is being received into your refrigerator this could be an indication that you may need to have your water filter changed out. I would recommend changing your water filter every six to nine months. If changing your filter does not help your water dispense properly it may be a blockage within your water line. You can perform a manual defrost by unplugging your refrigerator for roughly between four to six hours. I hope this is helpful to some degree. -Matt

Electrolux water dispenser wont shut off

If your water dispenser will not shut off then it is either the dispenser microswitch or the water inlet valve in the back of the refrigerator. Here is link that might help http://apcoappliancerepair.wordpress.com/?s=water+dispenser . Would need a model and serial number to assist you more. Good Luck From Apco Appliance and Air .

Electrolux fridge water dispenser won't shut off

Then I would assume that the micro switch that you press for water is defective and sticking. I am placing a=> 242100001 Dispenser Module to give you an idea to what I am talking about but if you have a model number for your Electrolux refrigerator I may could find a micro-switch that is replaceable, Thanks Sea Breeze

Water dispenser dripping water all the time

Hi,

First be sure the refrigerator is connected to a cold water supply. After connecting the refrigerator to a water source or replacing the water filter, flush the water system. Use a sturdy container to depress and hold the water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, and then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat until water begins to flow. Once water begins to flow, continue depressing and releasing the dispenser lever (5 seconds on, 5 seconds off) until a total of 12 L has been dispensed. This will flush air from the filter and water dispensing system, and prepare the water filter for use. Additional flushing may be required in some households. As air is cleared from the system, water may spurt out of the dispenser.

One or two drops of water immediately after dispensing is normal. It may be necessary to hold the container under the dispenser for 2 to 3 seconds after releasing the dispenser lever.

Hope this will be useful.

Thank you

Water does not come out of the refrigerator door, but the ice works

Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

You said, When the water dispenser is pushed you can hear it try to work (a humming or pumping sound) but nothing comes out.
Below is a list of reasons that the water may not be working that are easily checked and remedyed by you! Is there a water shut off on your fridge? If so the dispensor will still make noise as if it is trying, even if it is locked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. When did you change the internal water filter last?
You can remove the water filter and still use the water dispenser to check if the filter may be the problem! If nothing changes reinsert the water filter.

2.Flushing the water system after replacing filter
Use a sturdy container to depress the water dispenser bar until
the water begins to flow. Flush the water system by dispensing
and discarding 2 to 3 gal. (8 to 12 L) of water. Cleaning the
system will take approximately 6 to 7 minutes and will help clear
air from the line. Additional flushing may be required in some
households.
NOTE: As air is cleared from the system, water may spurt out of
the dispenser.

3.***Read this:
The dispenser lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
accidental dispensing by small children and pets. To turn off the
dispenser, press the LOCK button. The indicator will appear
above the LOCK button and the ice and water dispensers will not
work. To unlock the dispenser, press the UNLOCK button until
the indicator appears. Then continue to dispense ice or water as
usual.

NOTE:********** The lock feature does not shut off power to the product,
to the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates
the dispenser levers.

4.The water dispenser will not operate properly
Has the water system not filled? The water system needs
to be filled the first time it is used. Use a sturdy container to
depress the water dispenser bar until the water begins to
flow. Flush the water system by dispensing and discarding
2 to 3 gal. (8 to 12 L) of water. Cleaning the system will take
approximately 6 to 7 minutes and will help clear air from the
line. Additional flushing may be required in some households.
See the “Water and Ice Dispensers” section.
Is the water shutoff valve not turned on or the water line
connected at the source? Make sure the water shutoff valve
is turned on and the water source is connected to the
refrigerator. See the “Water Supply Connection” section.
Is the water shutoff valve clogged or incorrectly installed?
See the “Water Supply Connection” section. If clogging or
installation is not a problem, call for service or contact a
plumber.
Is there a kink in the home water source line? If you find or
suspect a kink in the water line, call for service.
Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? The
filter may be clogged or incorrectly installed. First, check the
filter installation instructions to ensure that the filter was
installed correctly and is not clogged. If installation or
clogging is not a problem, call for service.

Please remember to leave a rating before you go!
Thank you,
Huuum

Water leaking at filter

If this is a Pure source 2 filter in the upper right hand side of fridge, Purchase an Electrolux filter bypass, P/N 241944302. This is a empty cartridge that lets water flow without water drip when filter is clogged. Fridgidaire/Electrolux made no bypass in these filters, so when clogged they leak. Plus they NEVER last more than about 30/60 days. If you use the bypass, you will need a separate filter elsewhere such as in water line under sink or behind fridge. Call me at 816-560-8545 if you need more info.
