    Dear Rowdy 45176

The clerk at the store said that the plastic tabs under the sandpaper holes should be punched out. Store going out of business and the sander was last one in store. No box no instructions. Do not believe clerk, but not sure.

    Thanks

what plastic tabs are you talking about. You should not have to break anything for the vacuum to work. Make sure that you use the right paper

Do not break anything. Go to Dewaltservicenet.com and type in your model number in the middle of the page at the bottom and download a user manual for the tool. It should have come with what is called a punch plate to perforate the sandpaper for dust pickup (such as it is) Go there first and you will find everything that you need to use the tool

Palm sander not vibrating

Only real way to find out what is wrong is to open it up on this one. They are mostly plastic parts and you will probably find the broken part or where a gear is worn out.

Where to apply grease

There are no parts in your sander to grease. The only place there is grease is in the three sealed bearings on the armature and in the platen. Everything should be clean and dry inside the sander to make it less likely for sawdust to stick inside the tool. Blow everything out and replace the bearings if they are not turning freely and smoothly.

Did you pull the plastic cover on the left side to see if the drive belt has broken? I think the cover is held on with only one screw.

I have a power devil belt sander, but every time i turn it on for use the belt works its way off... i bought this sander second hand at a boot sale so im thinking is there supposed to be an outside guide...

no there is not anything missing, you need to adjust the belt by turning the black plastic adjuster knob which guides the belt to the left. I have found that whilst using the sander you sometime need to adjust it further. If you adjust it too much the belt will hit and grind the plastic casing of the sander.

Also make sure you are using the correct size belt as it should be size 75X533 which you can buy from Toolstation for £2.78 a pack of 5.

The motor buzzes slowly, it seems to be labouring and the plate rotates very slowly. Its as if the motor is blocked up inside. I've taken it apart and removed as much fine dust as possible but this hasn't...

sounds to me like the bearings are locking up, you can go to Dewaltservicenet.com and type in your model number and download a parts explosion for this tool so you can see the replacement part numbers. when you had it apart did you see any indication that the field was rubbing on the armature?? I would take a close look at the bearings though.

My belt sander makes a horrible noise.....like it's in need of WD40 I just don't know how or where to oil it.

chances are it does not need oil. I am assuming it is electric, not air. usually the noise is from the brushes either worn or broken.

Replacing broken cable on Porter Cable 7800 sander

just have to take off the plastic flexible casing it is screwed to the head. then you can pull the old wire out, if it it broken take out the plastic bellow and the 2 screws that are underneath that. then u can pull the remain of the old[broke shatf wire. To unscrew the casing use a plier and hold the metal piece not the plastic or u will broke it. \ REMENBER THE CASING IS NOT THE VACUUM HOSE IS UNDER IT.

No sanding action and motor just buzzes

It will probably be the shaft from the motor to the orbital cam which is on the flat plate that you connect the sandpaper to , either the shaft or the bottom cam is broken [probably the shaft has snapped ] you can do a cheap repair with a good glue to reconnect the shaft [but you wont be able to push too hard again] or if you can get the parts just replace the shaft into the motor . they are really simple things to work on

Remove the 4 sander plate screws being carefull not to strip them. Look at the plastic ******** extentions attached/flooting to the houseing and look for broken or bent arms on them ,replace with new ones, this should solve your problem.
