Go to menu, tools, settings. next, go to network, and check that the operator selection is set to automatic. If it's not, set it to automatic, and restart your phone.

Sir i have n73 mobile, i get the signals on dual mode , and gsm but i can't get signal on umts mode please tell me what is the problem with my mobile

junnyy43,
If you can find your way on your phone on the phone network settings (GSM or 2G/3G) you maybe able to change the setting to UMTS.

Please take note, on some phones, UMTS, 3G, 3.5G, HSDPA may all be the same.
Most often you can only select 2G or 3G, 3G may actually mean UMTS/HSDPA/3G/3.5G.

Just curious, may I know the reason why you want UMTS? Perhapd I understand what you want to do, so I can give a better recommendation.

Signal full, sufficient balance but at the time of call there is a message "Error in Connection". I can do also Restore Factory Setting.

Hi
The problem is most likely caused by a weak 3G signal that your handset is picking up. A weak 3G signal can cause odd problems like connection errors and call dropping.

Try disabling 3G to test to see if it's the cause of your problems.

The setting can be found in the network settings menu. It should be set to GSM, not dual mode or UMTS.

My nokia phone isn't working well,i've had a hard time sending text messages,i think its not on my network because the sim card that i use in my nokia phone was the same sim that i use on my other...

Hi!

We are still not sure that it is your handset, If you are using two different phones with two different network mode, that could be the problem. If your phone (able to send messages) is using 2G (GSM) signal, that's fine. And your other phone is using 3G-3.5G (UMTS) signal and you are not able to make a call or even send text messages, then, that could be it, you have to switch its network mode to 2G (or GSM mode) because with 3G, the more mobile uses the signal, the lesser the coverage.

Cheers!

I68+ Not registering on O2 Irl Network

After further research into the phone, I have discovered that it does not support any 3G network and as vodafone and O2 in Ireland are now 3G networks, neither the I9 or the I68+ will work on these networks. They only support 2G networks(GSM). Will work with Meteor Irl but this network is in the process of changing to 3G so these chinese phones will soon be useless in the Republic of Ireland.

No network

Hey. I think this is a general problem with the K770i. I have one also and it will turn itself off and then back on everytime there is a bad signal when the phone is in 3G/GSM mode. Sadly The phone has a really bad antenna located in the bottom of the phone. You can try holding the phone upside down, (seriously it helps) or turn of 3G when you're in an area with poor signal.

I've solved this issue by going into the settings and switching the phone to ONLY GSM mode.
Goto "Settings"
"Connectivity"
"Mobile Networks"
"GSM/3G networks"
and then change it to GSM only.

And like magic your phone will stop turning itself off all the freaking time when there's a bad signal. :)

How to remove the color blue H symbol near the antenna/signal

The H means you can access high speed internet. To turn it off, Settings>Connectivity>Mobile networks>GSM/3G networks>GSM only.
Hope this helps.

Letter h

i have that one too.. yes, it stands for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) for a 3G mobiles. i had network problems/signal issues weeks ago when i used that setting, so i changed my phone setting from 3G to GSM. [uhm..i don't think you can find that in the user guide either, hehe. you have to browse and make yourself familiar w/ your phone=) ] with that i don't think i can make video calls, but who cares.. my signal issues were resolved. now, whenever i switch back to 3g, i can still see my signal bar on the upper left fluctuates.. sigh ;c

anyways, you can make that "H" disappear by going to:
settings=
connectivity=
mobile networks=
gsm/3g networks=
then choose GSM only.

I was trying find out how can I turn off the 3G Icon on my sony Ericson K850i? Pls any1 out there can help me!

From the menu, select Settings, then Connectivity, then scroll down to Mobile Networks.
The menu option GSM/3G networks, select GSM only.

This will stop the phone searching for or using the 3G network, saving battery life at the expense of poorer data rates (if you use web browsing). If you only use voice and SMS texting, it can help your battery last much longer.

This solution also works for many other Sony Ericsson phones.

HOW TO TURN OFF 3G ON SAMSUNG Z500 TO EXTEND BATTERY LIFE

In the NEWORK menu, change the network mode to either of the following:-

GSM 900/1800: the phone operates in the
combined GSM 900/1800 network.

GSM 1900: the phone operates in the GSM
1900 network. This option is only available in
USA.

This should turn of 3G functionality but expect that you will have less reception too
