Here is HP's page for ordering new discs http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00707939&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=424215
unfortunately, the only way to restore the system is to recover or make a fresh install. one requires recovery discs , the other a LICENSED copy of windows (then download your drivers here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=424215
I wish i could sent you my copy , but i would be breaking the law..Hope this info helps ....REGARDS..

If you no longer have it, you would have to request a set of new cd's from HP. There is a cost for it though unfortunately. Initially when you purchase an HP pc, you need to create the restore cd's.

How to restore to factory settings, hp desktop pavilion 1993

There are two ways to do this. 1st. Using the recovery partition already installed on your hard drive. 2nd. Creating recovery disc by launching the recovery disc creator. It is highly recommended that when purchasing a new computer a set of recovery discs be may as a factory back up in case your hard drive fails. You should make your recovery discs first. That will require at least 3 DVD blanks. Tell you what, you make the discs first and I'll explain how to use both methods. Click your start button and find a folder called maintenance. The location and name of the folder varies by each computer manufacture as to where they file the recovery disc creator program. I believe It's in the maintenance folder. Open it and there you should find the program. Simply run the program and follow instructions. computershack.leo@gmail.com Good Luck

Tip

Restoring to Factory Settings

A very common issue with most people is what to do when your computer crashes and will no longer boot up. I wish to start by saying save any discs or software that came with your machine it is imperative that keeping these discs will assist you in the future in case this issues do arrive. Second prepare you computer with doing a system backup. So that you have any valuable information on a disc or USB device or any external method outside of your computers hard drive. What I do "TIP" I have a backup drive on my computer. Any and all pictures, movies, special files are stored on my backup drive and not my C:\Drive. All software files downloads anything that I can retrieve to reinstall due to a C: drive crash can be brought over from my backup drive in an instant. This is the easiest way to keep your files safe. Investing in one is cheap and easy to install. Even if it is a external drive it is well worth the investment.
The BIOS is your main source of access. You can set time you can set boot order you can boot up from your BIOS learn how to get into your BIOS most new users do not even know you can do this. This is the main resource for restoring software and doing a recovery process on some computers. The issues that arise are lost passwords and usernames as well as boot orders being set to Hard Drive Booting First when the default setting on computers these days are boot from CD or DVD. So if you cannot boot from your recovery disc this is the main problem this is where you will have to learn how to set the boot order if it is not defaulted to CD or DVD as the first boot. If this is set you can boot from any CD or DVD disc to install an Operating System back on to your machine. Usually F2 or the delete key will get you into your BIOS. If all is lost set the BIOS setting to default settings hit esc then save. This will set your BIOS to default settings.
Recovery DVD or CD's can be purchased from you manufacturer or offered in a downloadable file when you purchase your computer. It is a good idea to purchase your software legally. So that you have the right keys and you own it otherwise you will run into issues with "WGA" Windows Genuine Activation. It can be a pain to pass even for those that own their software. People do hack cracks that bypass WGA Microsoft is constantly working diligently to catch people that are pirating and taking the software illegally. So to avoid this problem purchase a legal copy of Windows.
Use manufacturers DVD or recovery discs only on your computer if you are not familiar with installing a new software Operating System on a computer. "WHY" drivers and other computer devices may not update and a you have seen with some of the questions. Drivers are always needed. With a factory boot recovery disc for your computer drivers come with the software. So it makes installing and recovering much easier to deal with.
In closing there is not much to doing a recovery on a crashed machine. Insert the recovery CD or DVD and boot from DVD or CD as the first boot and away you go that is about it. You can also perform a repair it is one of the options included with the install. You can always go back to an earlier time when you new you did not have a problem. Be sure to set your computer to back up files. Thanks for using FixYa! John

I received a NTLDR is Missing on HP Pavilion a620n. This happened on Friday afternoon and I still can't get my Computer up and running. I was told I need Windows XP Recovery Disk. Where can I get this disk...

When you bought the computer it told you to make recovery disks. you apparently didn't.
You can buy the OS at a local store and do a system refresh which is really much better. None of your data or programs will be lost as thye would be with recovery disks.

I m looking for recovery cd of my notebook TX 1301.

HP TX1301 - you should have got one with your computer or at least a utility on your computer which creates recovery discs using your own blank discs.

See this for Windows XP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=bph08097

Windows Vista
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&product=81351&docname=c00810334

If you are running Vista and you cant boot your computer , insert the vista installation disc into the drive , start the computer off the install disc , click repair my computer when you get the "Install Now" option to access vistas recovery tools from the disc

Happy new year

Have a look for system recovery when you switch the computer on.

Some computers (mine included) have a hidden part of the hard drive which contains recovery data. This hidden partition is usually placed there by OEMs (Hp , dell , etc) when they build the system.

You should have got a recovery disc when you purchased the computer - have a loook for that , place it in your drive , then boot off it when you start up your computer.

Restoring using the recovery discs will make all of your devices work , as the system recovery discs that come with your computer contain all the relevent device drivers etc.

Alternatively , go here

http://www.powerspec.com/support/support_archive.phtml?selection=5500

There are CPU Drivers , Chipset Drivers , Video Drivers , Audio Drivers , Modem Drivers And networking drivers available for your laptop if you are running Windows XP.

just load up device manager (Right click My computer and click properties , then go the the hardware tab at the top and click device manager)

Any hardware that has a yellow ! next to it needs its driver. Right click it , select update driver then the wizard will walk you through the steps to search for and install the drivers

Another option would be to just download the drivers from the link above and run the installation utility , this will install the driver for you and is by far the easiest and quickest option.

The majority of these PCs have a recovery partition on the internal hard drive, here is the instructions for using it.
Recovering information using Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)
Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) can perform a recovery from either an optional external hard
drive or from recovery discs.
CAUTION: Using Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) will completely erase hard drive contents
and reformat the hard drive. All files you have created and any software installed on the computer will
be permanently removed. When reformatting is complete, the recovery process will restore the operating
system, as well as the drivers, software, and utilities from the backup used for recovery.
To initiate recovery using WinRE, follow these steps:
NOTE: This process will take several minutes.
1. If possible, back up all personal files.
2. Restart the computer, and then press f8 before the Windows operating system loads.
3. Select Repair your computer.
NOTE: The "Repair your computer" option is displayed only if the WinRE partition is intact. If the
option is not displayed, refer to “Recovering information using a Windows Vista operating system
DVD (purchased separately).”
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Click Next.
6. Select your user name, type your password (if applicable), and then click OK.
7. If you are using recovery discs, insert the last disc of the recovery disc backup set.
NOTE: Inserting the last disc of the backup set confirms the presence of a valid backup. If you
insert any other disc, the backup will not be recognized.
– or –
If you are using an optional external hard drive, connect it to the computer.
8. Click Windows Complete PC Restore.
9. Follow the on-screen instructions.

this is getting long , so ill will post more steps in comment.....
