Question about Hotpoint FFM90 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
Hotoint ffm90 fridge not chilling was making a lot of noise but stpped when door was open now not cold at all
Hi if the freezer appears to work and the fridge if warm, the problem is that the freezer is over frozen and blocking the vents which send cold air into the fridge when required, and the noise is the fan hitting the the ice build up,defrost (switch off)your applinace for at least 36 hours then switch back on,you will then find after the freezer reaches -12 the fridge will then start to go cold.

Sure it's worth fixing, in fact you can probably do this yourself. This is usually caused by either a broken defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost timer/control. Take all the food out of your freezer and remove any shelving that might be in the freezer. Remove the rear panel in the freezer and you'll see ice blocking the air ducts going into the refrigerator compartment. Use a hair dryer to carefully thaw ALL of the ice. Also check the defrost drain while you have it apart. The defrost drain is located in the freezer, in the middle. It's a small hole going out of the bottom middle of the freezer. Pour a coffee cup of hot water down the tube. If it drains, you're okay. If it puddles up, you have an ice blockage and you need to pour more hot water in the hole until it drains freely. Reassemble your freezer and if the problem comes back in a couple weeks or months, you know you have a bad part. Usually the defrost thermostat. It's a small round part that is about the size of a golf ball. It has 2 wires going to it. See if it's bulging.
