Intermitant snow means your tv is not getting signal continuously. Please check the input signal connection and source to your tv.

This is not the malfunction to remote as you thinks. It with the set itself.

When i hear the word static, i think snow,
If while your watching tv and it looks like color snow pixels popping in and out all over the picture i did this to fix it.
look at main board you see a green heat sink,
left of that heat sink you see a 220 uf 16 volt capacitor that half surround by 22 uf capacitors,
change the 220 uf capacitor and snow is gone.
to get it off i just wiggle slowly back in forth until the old capacitor falls off,
then put some fresh solder on and new capacitor on and done.
use a radial electrolytic capacitor not the little metal one they had on

Since you do have sound but snow for picture is your TV 54J or 54U chassis the PT50DL54J chassis shows 4 tuners also Have you look for Leaky or Bad capacitors if they are puffed up on top they are Bad 2200uf 25v 1000uf 25v Look for bad capacitors on tuner Boards, and I have seen where they are on Power supply board that will affect Picture.

the tuner is getting a weak signal and that is why the vertical sync signal is weak and the picture is rolling .check the cable on the back

I had the same problem with Red/Green snow after 11mos of owning my Plasma. It was coevered under warranty thank goodness. The repair person had to replace all the inside circuit boards to fix.

these sets are notorious for bad inverter boards and bad video processor boards.Sharp is well aware of the problem,and will fix the units if you push the issue.They have fixed these ynits out of warranty with a smile.This is a issue with defective parts not connections

Hi. Sounds like DRY JOINTS WITHIN DFS MODULE. This is a pcb within a rectangular metal screened box on the left hand side of set when looking from the front. Will need resoldering be carefull very fine print will need decent soldering iron with fine tip & poss magnyfying lamp to aid looking. If your not at all sure take to repair shop. This TV is nice set has one of the best crt pictures you can get.
