I think this is a relatively new offering at 1.3mp. Anyone seen any
reviews on this model?

This camera is $99 at Walmart and that is not even on sale. I could
probably find a better camera near this price but it would be on Ebay
or mail order. The problem with that is if you get it and do not like
the quality or anything else returning it becomes painful. I'm looking
for a digital camera for a 12 year old to be able to email pictures on
the web.

Never even heard of it. The body looks like a cheap knock-off of a Nikon
Coolpix 2000. I don't know how much the Vivitar is, but I have no doubt
that you can get a better camera for the same money.
