Hi, this is a common issue due to the age of this set. The internal power board has failed. You can fix this by replacing the internal power board. Its a single piece of circuitry that can be ordered and shipped to your home for a do it yourself or, you can call a service tech to do it for you.

You can try to reset the circuit by unplugging for five minutes. this normally will work if the damage isn't severe.

There are a number of possibilitis for this symptom. Essentially, the set is shutting down because a problem has been detected in a circuit. Usually this happens and the fron LED will blink. Check for that as well. If it is blinking, it should be a pattern of blinks. Report that pattern here. With that info, we should be able to guide you through a repair.

My Mitsubishi Medallion tv stays on for about 10 minutes and then shuts down and won't turn back on until a period of time has passed. It is a rear projection tv about 9 years old. Can anyone help ex

When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.

What is the error code?

I have a 40 but i was having the same problem. It turned out to be my lamp. I got a brand new lamp from Projector Lamp Services (relampit.com) and my tv works fine now. Im pretty sure that the 40 and the 60 take the same lamp. You might want to give them a call.

Phillips 60 in. rear projection approx. 10 years old

This is a common problem with the older models. The opt chip fails. You can get a repair kit at www.magnavoxhelp.com. After a few months of getting smaller and smaller the audio and video will go out but the power light will remain lit.

I've had the same issue although I don't unplug everything. I turn it off and then unplug it from the wall for 10 seconds then plug it back in. Seems ok after that. Has happened 4 or 5 times over the 10 years I've owned it.

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions
