The email server settings are incorrect, Who is the email service provider for the email that is not functioning?

    Hi again,

For a start, make sure your settings are correct.

if your using outlook, You need to go into Tools, And then to Accounts. From accounts you need to select your account and click on properties.

    Then open the servers tap

    The servers are

    Incoming mail server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Also make sure the my outgoing server requires authentication is checked.

Then open up the Advanced tab.

Under Incoming Server (POP3), check the box next to “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)". The port number in the “Incoming Server (POP3)" field should automatically change from 110 to 995. If it doesn’t, make sure the port number is set to 995.

Next Under “Outgoing Server (SMTP)”, check the box next to “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). Enter port number “465” in the “Outgoing Server (SMTP)” field.

Also make sure that the box next to Leave A copy Of messages on the server. This will leave the messages on the website and you can read your email where ever you are instead only at your home computer. You inbox might eventually become full and you would eventually have to go in the webmail and delete some of the older messages from there, but the ones downloaded to your computer will remain there.

Check if the box this server requires authentication must be checked or not, if that setting is incorrect the SMTP service will not work.

What does this mean (The host 'smtp' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Subject 'happy thanksgiving', Account: 'pop2', Server:...

When you want to send mail, your mail agent (e.g. Outlook or Opera Mail or Firebird) tries to authenticate with an SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) server so it can send the mail.

You need to fill in the actual server name, account, port, and password for your ISP's smtp server so you can send mail. You receive mail via a different protocol, commonly pop3.

My computer refuses to change a message in Outbox to Send, leaving me with a queue ofunsent messages. I can receive incoming clls, but not send any out returner@ntl world.com

Make sure your SMTP (outgoing) server is set properly.
Are you on your own connection - or using a retail WiFi one?

Normally most WiFi servers reject outgoing mail.
You can GET mail - just not send any.
SMTP is blocked.
Pop3 (incoming) is allowed.

To check that the SMTP is set properly -

Open O/E, and navigate to the following screen....

Tools > Accounts > (Highlight the eMail account you are trying to send from).

Then click Properties

Click SERVERS tab.

It should say...
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): __________________________

In the blank it should say something like: SMTP.ntworld.com
(check with your service provider for the correct SMTP setting)

Thanks for using FixYa - if you need further clarification on your question - please use the "continue with this user" option so we are connected in the future.

Thank You!! :D

The issue is: Unable to Send/Receive emails from winThe host 'POP3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'POP3', Server: 'POP3', Protocol: POP3, Port:...

You are receiving this error because of one of two reasons:
1) Your email account is not set up properly. Click on Microsoft Outlook, click on Tools, then Accounts. You will see a window with columns stating Account-Type-Connection. If an account is set up then click on it then click on Properties. Click server tab and you will see the SMTP server block and the POP3 server block. Both of these fields will read as follows: pop.XXXXX.net and smtp.XXXXX.net. Your Internet Service Providers name will be in the XXXX. If these are not set up properly then you cannot connect to send email. If they are filled out correctly then you need to call your Internet Service Provider and inform them of your situation. Their server is not working properly.

Don't forget to 4 star this solution.

Can not send email from outlook 2003. send: smtp.att.yahoo.com ssl 465

Firstly you need to enable the POP3 settings in yahoo by going to the Options>Mail options>POP & Forwarding.
After that you need  Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) : pop.mail.yahoo.com

Outgoing Mail : smtp.mail.yahoo.com

In Advanced Tab Outgoing mail Server (SMTP) : 465 (SSL)
Incoming mail (POP3) : 110 (SSL) OR  995 (SSL)

Using thunderbird mail program on lap top. can receive e-mail, but can not send e-mail on any public wi-fi connection. error message says can not connect to mail server on port 25.

most isp blocks port 25 for sending out mail that's the reason you cant send out mail, ask you wifi(ISP) smtp settings and you need to set it on your smtp server so you can send out mail using thier smtp as outgoing server.

OR ask you email provider about your webmail address and manually send out mail using the web interface of your email hosting.

btw have you try to change you smtp port to 587 sometimes it work.

Windows Mail

Hi, this fix was on a website I found & may help..

This problem happens because your version of Outlook Express is set up to use Secure Socket Layer (SSL), which your ISP does not use.
To fix this problem, open Outlook Express, and click:
- Tools
- Accounts
- Then click on your connection and click Properties
- Then click Advanced
- On this screen remove the checks from the boxes This server requires a secure connection for both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3).
You may have to play with the settings a bit to suit your setup.
