There are two small holes on each side of the face plate, you need to use a tool or two thin screwdrivers to remove the stereo.

To remove the case you should have two small holes to access the two screws inside, if you cannot see the holes then you need to remove a plastic cover around the stereo to remove the screws that lock the stereo on the dash.

Look at this example on a Ford, if it has the holes it works in the same way.
It can be done with screwdrivers , but better getting help from a friend. Even better if you buy the tools.
If you do not have the holes then you have screws.

Have you tried resetting it by unhooking the battery for ten minutes... make sure you have the code for it if it's required

CD player radio in a 1998 lincoln. CD does not start on first track of CD and when you press the scan button it skips around randomly. Code 5HF appears on the display.

that is not 5hf, but rather shf which is short for shuffle. There should be a shuffle button on the deck. You need to turn it off. Shuffle mode randomly plays different songs.

hi,
Do one thing. Your players front panel is detachable one. just remove it from the player. You can see some gold plated contacts on the back side of the frond panel. clean the contact with a cloth.

Also you have to clean the contact on the payer. For that you have to remove its power from battery.if not it will damage your system. After removing the power clean the contacts of the player. Reinstall the frond panel. connect the power .Your problem will be solved.
ok
