Question about Gateway MX6030 Notebook
It sounds like this could be one of two things:
1.) The a/c power adapter (power cable) is bad and no longer charges your laptop. You can check to see if the light on the black box that connects the cable to the wall is illuminated, if so...it probably is not the cable. If it is not illuminated, you can try plugging it into another outlet to see if it comes on. 2.) This could also be a case of a bad battery. In which case, you might need to look into ordering a replacement.
Both the a/c power adapter and the battery replacement can be found online (ebay, etc), but you should try to pinpoint if it is the cable or the battery before ordering parts. Cables are cheaper than batteries!
Hope this helped.

How long did you leave the battery out?
To discharge the BIOS you need to short out the battery contacts, or disconnect the battery for 1/2+ hours.
If this does not work the it is near impossible to remove because the password would be stored on an EEPROM chip.
Check with Gateway, they might suggest a motherboard replacement just like IBM.
