I've connected my camera to my computer via USB port. Device manager recognises camera as being connected but says that storage volume is 'unknown'. What should I do next?

I would recommend getting a card reader, remove your memory card from your camera and insert it into the card reader, connect the card reader into your computer via the USB port and download using Picasa3 which is free software from Google. Simple, fast and works for any camera

Cant connect to my belkin web cam

Hi
Most webcams are connected to the PC via a USB port or hub. First try disconnecting the camera, leaving for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. Try it directly into a USB port on the computer rather than a hub. If the camera is detected fine, otherwise go to >Control Panel, >System and Security, >Device Manager and check that there is a camera or unknown device connected to USB or Imaging device (usual for webcams). If there is double click on it
and go to the drivers tab and click on update drivers. This will check and download the latest driver for your webcam and your OS.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

I cant transfer images to my computer

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

When you connect your cell phone with the supplied USB cable and then connect it to your computer's USB port the computer should detect the cell phone as an USB storage device which you can then open to download to your computer. It this does not work then -

Cant find driver for SimpleTech 250gb external hd. Is it available?

Should not be necessary. It is recognized by the system automatically. Try connecting to another port, check the data cable and the connection to the unit, it may be corroded or loose.

I used to be able to plug in my camera to the computor and get all my pictures downloaded and now all of a sudden, I CAN"T and I need to find out WHY>??????? Thanks

normally in windows xp allmost all the makes, models, and brands of digital cameras are recognised as mass storage device, and shows it as extended drive, when you connect it to the computer via USB. If earlier it was recognising and have stopped all of a sudden ,there may be
1) defective USB cable.
2) Defective USB port in the camera
3) problem with the operating system of the computer. Try connecting it on some other computer.

My canon S5 IS is not recongnized by Windows XP in my PC

i am afraid this is a microsoft O/S issue. It will not allow 2 imaging devices with twain drivesrs to be recognised at the same time. You have to disconnect one at the usb plug before the O/S can see the other one.

I have a scanner with twain drivers and XP will not recognise my S5 IS until i unplug the scanner. The O/S is recognising the camera as an imaging device rather than a usb mass storage device like for my other cameras.

Either MS need to fix this conflict issue or Canon need to reconfigure their drivers.
