Question about Audio Players & Recorders
We have a beloved 3 disk CD/Cassette/am/fm unit. Recently the CD changer stopped working...it says no disk when disks are in the player. I can see that the unit does lift the CD up off of the turntable, starts to spin...then stops. I cannot see any visible red glow from the laser...(don't know if I should see that on that model anyhow)
It is a Magnavox...Model # FW322C137P
Could it be something as simple as dust obscuring a sensor... Thanks for your help...gw
Yes Dust can cause the problem.
If you want to try cleaning the laser optics:
1. Unplug the unit and remove the cover.
2. Locate the Cd mechanism and you should see the tray where you would normally insert the disc. Look for a glass lens about 1/4 inch in diameter ( usually a blueish tint)
3. With a cotton swab dipped in a little isopropyl alcohol (any pharmacist should have it and it is very inexpensive ) Clean the lens. You do not need a lot of alcohol and any excess will quickly evaporate.
4. Put the cover back on and give it a try
