Intel Computers: P4 3.0GHz Mid Tower Computer System in Windowed High Gloss Red Case

P4 3.0Ghz - Cpu fan goes 5500rpm !?!?

By LiZzIe - usenet poster

I've got my new pc...
There are a power supply of 550w, and three additional fan, two for the case
and one for the hard disk. Now, I've got a problem, the CPU fan when I turn
on computer is really silent ... about 3000rpm. but after five minutes, it
goes to 5500rpm and make lots of noise. Is it normal? I mean... we're in
summer :-) and air is hot... could it be normal, even if I've got 2 fan for
the case and 1 for hard disk... !?!? Thanks in advance...

The Pentium is an Intel 3.0Ghz Boxed.
I have the same problem.

its the heat

when you start it up, its cold, so the fan is slow, once it heats up, it
spins at 100%

Yes, it's horrible, isn't it? I was using my friend's retail 3.0c
heatsink on my 2.4b, and the noise was too much once it spun up. I
modified mine to run at 7v, which wasn't necessarily the best solution
because it started to get quite toasty. On the upside, it *was*
essentially silent. Solved the problem for good by buying a Zalman
CNPS7000-Cu-Alu. Now I've got a gigantic, nearly silent heatsink.
Ahh better.
