You might try pausing the printer for 10 minutes, before it gets to the halfway point to let it cool down, then un-pause it.
You don't say how large the canvas is. If it is 44" by 60" or something large, above might be OK, if it is only 24" x16", it might be more trouble than it is worth, unless you are only printing a few.
