KDL-52W4100 - I have interminent sound problem with this Sony Bravia 52" flat panel TV- About 10 times a day, the sound goes out for about 5-10 seconds. Sony had me load a s/w patch, but it did not work. I have it hooked with an HDMI cable from my Emerson Cable box. Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
HDMI input causes intermittent sound cut-off lasting 2 to 4 seconds. This will happen anywhere from 11 times an hour to 2 times a minute. Input from DVD, VCR, or TV dose not cause any problems with sound or anything else. Cable box was changed with no change. A substitute was connected to the suspected cable box but that didn't solve anything. I need an answer.

Bus clock and/or data lines low at power on. 6 blinks of standby light denotes this. Actually, it should be a motherboard problem. Your TV need a thorough checkup before confirmation. If you wish to get more details about the blinking codes to Sony TVs, check this link.
I have seen about a dozen questions here in the last ten days with several models with the same type of problem, Sony of course says they are not aware of this issue---typical for them to deny until smoke turns to fire.....
If the problem is same with different input devices and you have ensured there are no loose contacts in power outlet, RC jack, cable and sockets, the TV needs servicing.
Fully powers off or stays on with Sound on? Sounds like something wrong in your power supply. I believe Sony has a 2 year warranty? Is it older than 2 years?
