I have exactly the same problem, the paper tries to feed through but only pulls on one side and then gives up. I have tried to clean the 2 bands that catch the paper but it makes no difference.

My printer keeps showing the message "Clear paper jam, then press (check mark), there is no jammed paper in the printer.

If I load my paper at the 'proper' height, it will not feed. If I push the paper down too far, I get a 'paper jam' message. What works for me (even though it's a royal pain) is to feed 1 sheet of paper at a time. Put 1 sheet in so it's level with the top of the feed tray, then gently push it down 3/4 of an inch. That works for me. Good luck.

My lexmark x5470 printer is jammed inside and I cant seem to be able to open it in order to get the paper jam out of it. Any suggestions?

Hi,
You can try the following. Press and hold the check mark untill you hear the printer turning the rollers. That will cause the printer to try to feed a paper sheet. If that does not pulls the jammed paper out then you will probably have to find a way to remove maybe using some long nose pliers.

My paper keeps going in crooked and jams

Hi, at the following link you will find some easy to follow steps on how to prevent this type of problems. Also make sure there is nothing blocking the path of the paper when the printer is trying to feed it. Sometimes objects will fell inside the printer and block the paper path thus causing the paper to be pulled from one side and the other jamming.

My printer keeps on jamming, says I need to re-align the paper, which i've done but the paper won't feed through. Someone please help. Thank you! Anna

Try cleaning all the rollers with 90% rubbing alcohol, as well as any tight spaces on the printer... Use Q tips. Also inspect rubber rollers for wear and replace any worn ones (they're not expensive).

You may also have some paper jammed deep in there. taking the printer apart and cleaning everything with rubbing alcohol should solve that.

Paper jam Lexmark X5470

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Good luck...
