Question about CD Players

1 Answer

Sound is sporadic, sometimes fine, sometimes very low. No amount of adjustment of knobs does anything.

Hi. Hope you can help me out here. Some1 is offering to sell me his NAD C521i CD player. Its been with him for 5 years. Is it wise to get it since it is already 5 years old (at least that i what the guy is...

This cd player sound great but have in mind it is fitted with NE5532 op amps in linedriver stage, but single trafo supply, and this player is a standard production line cd player. I owned one, i liked the NAD sound, and i think if you pay something like $100-$130 you will be happy. Also you ask if you shall be aware of something, in older nad cd player displays is sometimes defect, but easy to fix. Also the laser need to be adjusted often. (as in most cd players.)
Step from track 1 to the last traack fast and back to track 1 again, listen to music parts from track 1, track 4, track 10 track xx.
If the sounud is not choppy, if there are coming sound in both speakers and otherwise it sounds good then i think you can buy it without expecting major problems.
;)

I own a 1992 Silver City MSN jukebox. I have checked the crossovers and polarity of the woofers. Found 1 speaker to be out of phase. Crossover fine. Better bass, but still weak..How can I increase the bass...

instead of hacking your unit, frankly speaking buy a new one if you want to increase the bass, its circuit is design only to produce that amount of bass sound. the sound it produces depends on how much power its audio amplifier has and how much its powers supply have.

Panasonic 710u car cd/tuner NO sound from CD section

hi, the lens has failed. it is unable to pick up the audio code that is coded on the disk. this will happen if the dust level reaches critical mass. the lens become hot or time, during play. when there is a good amount of dust present, this will tend to burn into the face of the lens, clouding the reading capabilities of the assembly. simply replacing the lens assembly will fix this issue.

Arcam CD73 CD Player. CD player works fine but sound cuts out.

I too had this problem and was resigned to having the laser mech replaced.............BUT! i opened up my unit (it was long out of warranty) and was suprised at the amount of lubricant on the cog that drives the laser and the track upon which it runs.most of the grease had been pushed to either end of it's travel and as a consequence my unit would cut out particularly at the start and end of CD's as the laser struggled to move and track the disc as it should. Since removing this excess lubricant (with a dry toothbrush) i have enjoyed over six months of trouble free listening. From searching online forums it would seem that many people have experienced similar problems with this transport - a Sony KSM213CCM - and have replaced the entire mech! it would appear that someone a the factory has been a little over enthusiastic with the lubricant! Hope this fix is of help

TEAC CD-P1260

Identical problem with my 4-month old player. I mailed the unit to the repair shop noted on their web page (Montebello, CA). They "re-soldered a loose connection" and made a "mechanical adjustment". I got the player back in two days. It now works fine (again). Under warrenty; no charge.
