Sylvania SMP2002 Shuffle?

Is there a way to get the Sylvania SMP2002 to shuffle through the music you put on it? I hate that I have to either go through the past 30 songs Ive listened to before just to get to the rest of my music. I mean I put like 1.7 gigs of music on the thing and it gets irritating having to press the continue button like 500 times. Can someone help me?

No shuffle that I've found & it doesn't list playlists in the specs -- so it seems the only way to change the order is to rename the files? That may not even work as it appears to go by file date order.

Actually it is not a problem. It is a simple machine that plays from song 1 to song whatever the last tune is. Yes it is limited, but then what can one expect from such a modestly priced digital toy. I too hoped for more till I got it home and realized I got what I paid for. good for the price though...nice sound... crappy headphones...had to use phones from an other product. Other than the phones...good for the price. Much better to be had...but it will cost you more.

I have the same problem, but as a partial workaround I hit pause before I turn off the unit. It then "bookmarks" my place. That said, maybe it automatically bookmarks the last song played, but I don't think that it does.

Best I can tell there is no shuffle. I keep mine loaded up with songs & will occasionally rename all the mp3s in a folder i've already listened to (*.bak) so they don't keep repeating. You can also merge mp3 files into one big file using the DOS copy command with the /B switch & "+" between files. That creates fewer files once you delete the source mp3s.

In the Manual it says:
"Hold play to turn off the player when the player is working.
Switch the power on to resume the song."

You can also pause the unit before turning it off. It will resume where it left off.
The unit plays the songs in a mixed but not random order. Always the same random order.

Why does sony E436F MP3 player change the order of the songs

Your music has likely been put on shuffle. Look on the screen while songs are playing. You will see two crossed arrows or the word shuffle or random. Check playback options and see if random or shuffle option has been turned on. Sometimes the program you use to put songs on the MP3 player will activate this option if the program's playlist is on shuffle.

iTunes uses an m4a audio format which is not supported by your player. Convert the songs to mp3 and try again. You don't need drivers just drag and drop or copy and paste.

Not enough knowledge to get songs onto mp3 player.

The songs are usually input on mp3 players via a USB cable, then you wire the cable to your computer and transfer your music files to its local folder, usually drag and drop or copy and paste. Try to find the cable, and then after downloading songs from like rhapsodymp3.com, you can transfer the audio files to its folder with the auto ~ play after you connect it to your pc. This should do the trick. :)

Cant get songs onto ipod shuffle.(daughter has ipod touch)

Hi there,
When you go into the ipod section on iTunes, click the music tab, make sure 'sync music' is checked and 'selected playlists:' is also, then check the playlist you want to use. Click 'sync' button

If that don't work go back to the summary tab and hit 'restore' and follow the instructions to reset the ipod, resync and all should be fine.

All the best

Deleting songs from mp3 player (sylvania smp2002)

You can't directly. You have to attach the player to a computer with the included USB cable and delete the files from there. If you're using a windows based OS, the player will show up as a USB drive within File manager.

Hope this helps,

Ipod suffle

It won't play music while connected to computer, that's for sure. It only plays when it's disconnected from the wall charger and computer.

The songs could be in the wrong format
AAC is iTunes native format
Mp3 generally works
WMA is iffy - only unprotected (non-DRM) files will work
Streaming songs won't work

Playing Songs, Audiobooks, and Podcasts on iPod shuffle iPod shuffle allows you to play your audio files in a couple different ways—you can play songs, audiobooks, and podcasts in the order in which they appear on your player, or let iPod shuffle work its namesake magic for you (that is, shuffle the files by playing them randomly).
Show Me How
If you want iPod shuffle to play audio files in the order in which they appear on the player, move the switch on the top of the iPod shuffle to the play in order (circular arrows) position. If you want iPod shuffle to play songs in random order, move the switch to the shuffle (crossed arrows) position.
ip02_playfnky_04_shuflebutton.gif This iPod Shuffle is set to shuffle.
To play music, an audiobook, or podcast, just press the Play/Pause button. To skip to the next song (or a different song if you're in shuffle mode, or a different chapter if you're listening to an audiobook or podcast), press the Next/Fast-forward button. To fast-forward through the audio, hold down the Next/Fast-forward button. To go back to the beginning of a song (or the previous chapter), press the Previous/Rewind button; press this button twice to go to the previous song or hold it down to rewind through the file.
To stop play, press the Play/Pause button during play. To turn off iPod shuffle, move the switch to the Off position (you shouldn't see green beneath the switch).
