I need to reset the bios on a HP G62-435DX

Hi.

The HP G62 does not have jumpers on the motherboard to short the CMOS/BIOS to reset it, all you can do is turn the laptop upside down and then remove battery and the memory & wifi cover, under that cover you will see a black, round penny shaped item with red wires coming from it. Follow the wires and unplug it. That is the CMOS/BIOS or RTC battery, leave both the main battery and the CMOS battery out for at least 10 minutes. Below is a picture for you to refer to.

Compaq 6510b reset cmos/bios password

try this: Make sure the battery for the notebook is out in step 8

the procedure to reset the CMOS/BIOS is in the maintenance and service guide on page 46.

Follow these steps to clear the password:
NOTE: These steps also clear CMOS.
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 48).
5. Remove the real-time clock (RTC) battery (see RTC battery on page 68).
6. Wait approximately 30 minutes.
7. Replace the RTC battery and reassemble the computer.
8. Connect AC power to the computer. Do not reinsert any batteries at this time.
9. Turn on the computer.
All passwords and all CMOS settings have been cleared.

I need to rest password in bios

Hi,
Removing the RTC battery and leaving it uninstalled for 5 or more minutes causes all passwords and CMOS settings to be cleared. BIOS password can be removed by temporarily disconnecting/ removing the RTC/ CMOS (Coin-cell) battery from the motherboard.
Disconnect the coin-cell battery from the system board and it will reset the BIOS to its default setting and the password would be gone.
Please Refer to Page 29, 106 & 79 of the REPAIR MANUAL IBM T40 for Battery removal, keyboard removal and RTC battery removal instructions.
The Backup Battery (RTC, CMOS) is located under the keyboard. So you have to remove the keyboard to access the battery. The above Manual from IBM shows the exact method/ instructions and pictures for laptop dis-assembly for the purpose.
If you are comfortable with working inside such electronics, you can't do it yourself, or else you may seek help from local laptop service professional.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

My laptop is hp 6510b but problem is i forgott the bios password pls anybody help me

is a internal battery who store password and some boot config. needs some hand work. needs a tecnician.

Remove/disconnect the RTC-battery which is used for buffering the BIOS.

- Unplug AC, take out the main battery;
- take out the RTC-battery for app. half an hour (the period of 5 min as specified in the docs normally is not long enough);
- reconnect RTC-battery;
- plug in the AC adapter (battery still removed).

is the file who can help you.

I need a product key to activate my hp 530 laptop please

A GOOGLE-search gives "Results 1 - 10 of about 127 for 2Q2WM-VCB98-8C6BG-C9BT2-3XDRY".

If you have a BIOS-password that you have forgotten, find your original sales-receipt for the computer, and then call the manufacturer. With the receipt as "proof" that you are the owner of the computer, rather than just being the person currently in possession of the computer, the manufacturer will be able to help you remove the BIOS-password.

HP Compaq nc6320 PC bios password

Ok, as long as the high security level has not been set in the bios then the following will work to reset / disable the bios password.
1. Remove the battery and mains adapter.
2. Remove the memory cover on the back of the laptop and remove the 2 keyboard screws.
3. Open the laptop and at the top of the keyboard you will see 4 sliding tabs. They are located between the 'Esc & F1 keys' 'F4 & F5 keys' 'F8 & F9 keys' and 'F12 & delete keys'. Slide these down and lift the keyboard up and pull forward slightly so as to disengauge the bottom lugs. Be carefull as there is a ribbon cable at the bottom that does not need to be tugged or removed.
4. You will now see at the bottom behind the keyboard a small battery connected to the motherboard. Gently pull the small white plug upwards untill it is removed from the board.
5. Wait 5 minutes and re-connect the small battery plug.
6. Re-install the keyboard and push back the clips. You do not need to replace the screws yet.
7. Apply the DC jack and power on - DO NOT INSTALL THE MAIN BATTERY.
8. Turn the laptop on while pressing f10 repeatedly but slowly - Do not hold it.
9. If high security is disabled you should now be in the setup screen, select 'Restore Defaults' and press F10 to save.
10. The password is now removed.

If this does not work then HP say that there is no other way to reset it. Im not sure about that, there probably is by some method of de-soldering the bios chip. However the above method worked for me so I hope it does for you. Please rate if you have any luck.
