We have a leak in the back bottom of our refrigerator , ice maker

We have a leak in the back bottom of the refrigerator , it seems to come from the fill area of the ice maker .we have a 10 year old model GE top freezer refrigerator. the leak seems to come from the area wher the new copper line was attached, but it seems tight. so the leak is from some where else , but where? and is it worth having it fixed? the model number is TBX24JI .

You say there was a new copper line attached? I assume that this means a repair has been done. If the unit has been slightly overcharged with refrigerant, this can cause excessive condensate to build up on the return copper tubing and would then drip in the back of the fridge. Or you should check on the drainpipe which often has a drainpan built either over the compressor dome or somewhere within the compressor area. Make sure the drainpipe is not missing the pan and that the pan is not leaking.

The freezer has an obvious leak. When we wait a few days, we can see that water leaked into the freezer and it turned into a large brick of ice? What does that mean?

Hi Monica,
This seems to be a problem with overflow of water into the ice maker, or a leak in the feeder to the ice maker. My suggestion is to turn off the ice maker by raising the lever on the unit, and see if the ice re-accumulates. This would mean that the water is leaking from the inlet, and the ice maker has no obvious fault. If you find this, you can remove the ice maker from the freezer by removing the screws holding it to the inside, unplug the unit from the back of the freezer, and pull straight out. Look at the inlet of the water at the rear of the freezer and see if there is a break in the line or a crack somewhere along it. You can replace it from the back of the refrigerator itself, going from the bottom where the water is hooked up to the top by removing the panel that guards it.
I hope this isn't too confusing.

Water seems to be leaking into the freezer before it reaches the cube maker. No water outside the refrigerator so I think the leak is where is in the back of the freezer wall before reaching the cube...

Actually your evaporator drain is clogged, take your freezer back panel off. At the bottom there is a drain hole, stick a flat head screwdriver and see if there is something blocking the drain hole. You will have to defrost your fridge first. Good luck!

Ice maker leaking

Are you sure it's the ice maker that's leaking? We have this model & ours accumulates a HUGE iceberg in the bottom of the freezer, but the water seems to be coming out of the back, at the bottom of the back panel, where the vents are.

Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator warming up

Hi
There is a definetely leak in the cooling gas.
Firstly... You will need to find from where the gas has leaked. It is usually on the compressor pipes..... but not always.

Secondly you are right about the Water Valve... it needs to be changed.

Ice build up on bottom of freezer. Water leaks out of freezer possibly from melting. Water leaks onto floor of kitchen.

Your problem is possibly one of two things. The ice maker is leaking or the defrost tray behind the rear panel inside freezer back wall is clogged with ice or something else. If you know its not the ice maker unplug the refrigerator and remove the back panel to see if the drain is blocked there, Let me know, Sea Breeze

When ice maker is filling with water it leaks.

It could be that the dual valve(located in the bottom back of the refrigerator ) is leaking and when the ice maker calls for water there's already some in the ice maker and it'll overflow, if the valve is not leaking the ice maker module is bad and has to be replaced but it will probably cost you with parts and labor almost as a new one and you can do it yourself. To check the water valve turn off the ice maker for about a day and see if is any water in it .

Has this fridge got an ice maker???
Because ice makers require a water supply to make ice.
This could be where your water is coming from.
