If on Xp go onto start then run in run enter cmd this will open a command prompt in dos
then type in ipconfig and check settings if the ip and dns settings seem incorrect then type ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew this will reset the system hope this rectifies your problem

I have congigured my Linksys WAP54G Access Point with a lan cable hookup. The system recognizes the port but once I unhook the cable it will not recognize it wirelessly.any suggestions?

From what I am understanding: you are setting your wireless up and when you are done with configuring the settings, you are unplugging the laptop/desktop from the device and trying to access the Internet. Correct?

If thats the case I will assume these things:
- You are seeing the wireless router when you are trying to connect but it still wont let you connect.
OR
- You are NOT seeing the wireless router and want to connect to it.

What you will have to do it go back into the router (hard wired into it) and start over. Make sure you access the wireless setting and ensure the settings are compatible with your wireless laptop. If your laptop is very new then the setting at the bottom will work if your laptop is older then the options like WEP/WAP Personal setting will do. Make sure you write down the settings you used for refrence later.

When you rename the device, wirite it down too!

Ensure you "Apply" all the settings and "Logout."

When you are done, go to "Start," "Control Panel," "Network and Sharing Center," "Set-up a connection or network," "Manually connect to a wireless network," and enter all the information you wrote down!

Let me know if there is anything else you need help with!

I cant connect to the Internet threw my wireless linksys router wrt54g v.8 which allows me to go on the Internet if its hardwire which defeats the whole point and It wont let me go wireless ? p.s please...

First you need to configure the wireless settings on the access point using the network cable. Do you know how to login to the access point as administrator to setup the SSID, and WAP encryption? Don't forget to change the default password.
To make your access point secure from hackers, turn off SSID broadcast and use MAC address filtering to stop all wireless access to your access point except for the MAC address of your wireless card.

Second, is the wireless card driver installed and working?
Can the wireless detect the access point and does it have a strong signal strength?
The Wireless card needs to be configured with the access point's SSID and encryption settings.
Let me know if you have further problems together with error messages.

Resetting fulbond wireless AP

problem solved when im using access point manager to accessed my wap.
the default password is "default". for unknown reason the wap seems cant be access thru http, even i enter the right password. the http page tell me that the password is wrong. But when i used access point manager from www.teletronics.com i can log in to the wap and configure it using the same password that i used on the http page.till now still dont know what's wrong with the wap.
since it's working fine im not trying to find out anymore.

the default password is working too on telnet and others but it still dont work on http page and i dont
see any configuration that restricted access to the wap thru http access.
