So the swr is fine antenna has not been hit by lightning i assume as the swr would be all wacke out check to see if the rf gain is turned all the way down maybe if you have little ones they play with everything as i know all so well. or mabe the squelch was turned allt the way up if either turn squelch down all the way and turn the rf gain all the way up if not the audio chip on the rt side of the board could be shoted out if the radio has pa put switch to pa with external speaker attached key mic and talk if you here yourself talking the chip is good. by the way has the radio been tweaked any time recently it may be also alignment problem??

does it have a 5 pin connectro on the mic end if so remove the small screws and chec to see if the recieve wire may be broken if so just resolder it back to pin 5 on the mic plug.

I have a General Lee radio. Bought it used from a pawn shop for a really good price ($70, don't think they know what it is). I turned it on worked great, for maybe 12 hours off and on. The next day it...

depending on how old it is, it could have bad caps. Could be the switching transistor, mic... Any number of things. It is the kind of thing where you have to start checking things down the line looking for the issue. Start with the simple things like the mic, cold solder joints. Look for obviously burnt parts. After that it gets a bit more technical checking parts in the TX section.

Hopefully its just a bad mic wire which would cause the radio to have no RX. Try a new mic. Good luck!

Radio transmits fine but the receive volume is way down. Can hardly hear it with volume turned up full.

If you have talk back in this radio.( you hear your self through the radio when you transmit) then its a good bet that the RX wire in the mic plug has broken off.

The mic switch is responsible for putting the radio into receive mode when you release the key. If the RX wire is broken, the radio will not go into receive.

Normally when this happens you have no receive at all no matter what, but you will have very low sound if you have talk back installed in the radio.

Because of this, if you have talk back in your radio, and the volume is faint even at full blast, its a good bet that its a broken RX wire in the mic cord or plug.

You can attempt to see if the break is at the mic plug. if it is, you can re solder it and it will solve your problem. If you have no clue, then you can just go buy new 4 pin mic.

I have a galaxy dx 66 some time I can hear well but most times the audio is real low an the talk back is low if any an no matter what the echo is set at the talk back stays at a faint same. I'm running it...

on a galaxy the mic will not hurt the rx.. nor will echo time/speed change anything. on modulation. there is a problem. i do have time for my customers if you want me to look at it... can look at it and give you a quote. the parts are very cheap for cbs. it just the time cost.. i wouldn't spend more than $45 on it myself. when new exports start @ $199 for a similar model.

My general lee cb radio is turning on and displayng all lights but it will not talk at all i cant hear anyone talking and the cant hear me what should i do? i have already checked ground, mic. and antanae...

At that point if you've checked everything else the mic, and the coax, and the antenna and the mount, and still nothing? You may possibly have a radio that needs to go to a repair shop. Actually I take back my last sentence....with a radio like the General Lee, its worth quite a bit of money, and if all obvious things are checked and still nothing I'd recommend having a local radio shop open the hood and take a look. I've had many people tell me that there are no radio shops to bring thier rigs to. So if your in the same boat I'll tell you what I told you local police department or sherrifs office and ask them who does the work on their radio system....(just don't call them on the 911 line) I'm just wondering what your SWR readings were when you were using the radIo? Did you use an in line meter, or the one on the radio....cause I'm guessing your levels were high and you didn't recalibrate it and burned the primaries....sorry I don't have an easy fix answer for you....keep me posting on your progress I'm kind of curious

No Transmitting, no RX sound, but can hear speaker click on...

Hi there!!

The symptom sounds like a bad Microphone connection or a bad microphone!! The Cobra has a built in circuit that wont allow you to hear anyone until the microphone is plugged in and the no transmit part will also do the same. Try another microphone that is wired right for that radio before you do anything else!! let me know!!

A number of things....faulty speaker (you can scratch test this with a torch 1.5 volt cell....cell pos goes to 1 speaker terminal
and cel neg goes to other speaker can conect it any way around with flying leads from the cell...just keep touching the terminal with one flying will hear a scratching sound in the speaker) have your mike checked...test the tx/rx relay on the circuit board for tx/rx switching, or, a failed
driver transister in the output stage....the list is many

Wont talk out.

Hey, stubby, Turn you mic gain wide open on the radio. That controls the modulation. Course if the radio has not been tuned that makes a big difference. Also the size of the antenna and how well it's tuned makes a big difference. Mechanic
