I have a VSX-9300s in which the preamp and power-amp are normally linked with short u-shaped connectors, or require RCA plug cables to connect them. If these are missing, no signals can reach the L/R speakers. Check your manual or carefully inspect the rear panel for the preamp outputs and power-amp inputs.

Dear Sirs, I have a Pioneer AV Receiver model VSX-817 and is connected to Monitor Audio Speakers (Fronts: BR5, Center: BR-LCR, Rears: BR1), Sub: MS309 (Mordaunt Short). I have connected each front...

Did you remember to remove the shorting link on the MA BR5 speaker terminal ..When you biwire the speakers you should remember to loosen the speaker terminal nuts and remove the shorting link plate between the HF and the LF terminals or you will short the amplifiers two channels together through the link. And modern amplifiers will take a lot of abuse at low volumes but at high volumes the protection circuit will turn off the device.

I want to connect a pair of Bose 901 speakers to the VSX and use them as my front speakers powered by a separate amplifier but can't find an appropriate pre-out from the VSX.......what analog VSX output...

It doesn't really have one. The DVR-Out (or any other available Line-Out) COULD provide a mixed-down analog stereo program but it won't be volume controllable from the VSX and it won't be Front-Channel specific. Sorry.

You would then connect the EQ between the chosen Line Out and the amp input. If you had a Pre-Our you would just run speaker assignment, levels, etc and have fun. With a Line Out feed you will have to ride herd on the 901 volume via its dedicated amp controls. Bummer. My older VSX-36TX allows me to have the right setup.

Pioneer VSX-01 TXH receiver turns off

Sounds like the speaker circuit is overloading or the receiver is overheating.

Check to make sure all speakers are in phase. Pos to Pos. Neg to Neg.

Make sure receiver has plenty of cooling room.

Hope this helps.

Problem for Pioneer VSX-818V-K 5.1 Channels Receiver Surround sound doesn't work, display reads 2CH IN,surround speakers are enabled, automatic test will find surrand speakers

Test with an surround sound media ie. Blu-ray or DVD)_. Disconnect the front and all other speakers that are working to see if sound from the missing speakers are heard. If this doesn't work then start by tracing and checking all the wires from the receiver to the speakers for bad/shorted/open connections.

PLEASE VOTE IF THIS WAS HELPFUL. THANKS & GOOD LUCK.

Sound cuts out

No, this sounds like a speaker problem to me.
It sounds like the voice coils in your speaker(s) have been fried.
What happens is the part that is burnt does not funtion, but as you increase the volume/voltage the speaker "jumps" foward to a section of voice coil that is not as damaged.
Check your speakers!

Overload Problem

If your rec'vr worked with the original front and rear speakers, the new speakers are either defective or ar the wrong impedance.
Also, I find this confusing: "I connected the wiring for 1 of the front speakers to the connection on the rear of the receiver". This may indicate wrong wiring connection. Make sure you have connected the speakers properly
