If you have ever experienced the problem where you washer continually fills but never reaches the proper level (not an overflow). Or, the wash tub water level cannot be maintained, because the water level keeps dropping. You may be experiencing what is known as “siphoning”. This occurs when there is no air gap for the drain line at the standpipe. The standpipe is the drain pipe at the wall where the washer drain line is placed. With no air gap, a vacuum is created, and water will begin to drain from the wash tub prematurely. To prevent this from occurring, follow this advice:

* The standpipe should be 2 inches in diameter to allow a sufficient air gap between the top of the standpipe and the drain hose.
* The standpipe should be a minimum of 34” from the floor, and should not exceed 72 inches in height.
* DO NOT seal the top of the standpipe. Many consumers seal the standpipe in the belief that this will prevent overflows, or get rid of drain odors. This often creates more problems than solutions.
* DO NOT place the drain hose too far down into the pipe. Water stays in the drain trap area of the standpipe. If the end of the drain hose rests in this area, no air gap is created, and this can also cause siphoning. 4 to 6 inches is sufficient.
* The drain hose length must not exceed 10 feet in length. Excessive drain hose length can cause drain problems and back wash.

I believe the water temp switch is bad. It will start filling on warm then stop if I put it on hot it will fill with cold water. I have cut the hot water off to achieve this but when it reaches rinse it...

it sounds to me that the hoses are connected to the machine incorrectly. Typically if the plumber ran the water lines behind washer correctly the hot pipe is on the left and the cold pipe is on the right sometimes thats backward and be determined by touching hoses while filling on warm setting and see which hose feels hot. On the back of washer they where they connect hot goes on the bottom and cold on top

Washer will not fill in rinse cycle.

hi, When the washer acts up in the rinse cycle, will it try and fill and then the water starts going out the drain hose? If this is the case, the drain hose is either needs to be raised to be as high as the top of the washer or, it needs to have a loose fitting where it goes into the drain pipe so it can have air **** back into the drain hose after it releases the wash water.
i know this is a lot of info that might not even be the answer but, I am giving you the most common fix. Please let me know if I have answered your question or let me know if I can assist you further.
If this does not seem to be the answer, maybe I need clarification.

Yes, it is a siphon problem.
Check the hose where it goes through the wall. It may be pinched and cutting off air.
If air cannot enter the hose it will siphon. If the hose is too low it will siphon.
