The cartridges are not seating all the way - are you sure all the tape has been removed from the cartridge? Also, use a flashlight and look on the ink cartridge carriage - make sure there's no paper of tape sitting on it that would keep the ink catridges from seating properly. The ink cartridges should go in and you should feel them click into place.

same as when you change ink tanks...
1.follow the same procedure you use to change ink tanks/cartridges to remove the current ink tanks
2.remove all ink tanks/cartridges
3.the printhead is what the ink tanks/cartridges sit in, the furthest half of the part the ink tanks/cartridges sit on is the removable part/printhead, it is loose so you can simply reach in and carefully pull it out.

Three things peggye: one you have bought a dud cartridge. It happens. Two: you did may not have removed all the protective tape or it is not a comapatable cartridge by mistake. If tow is not the issue, try 3 first before resorting to 1. Three: your printheads are blocked for black ink. Manually clean with proper cleaning solution, using cotton buds, right doen where cartrisge sits, and use a baby wipe (unscented to press firmly on bottom of cartridge where ink comes out. Put it back in. Print now. Post back if no good. Cheers, lilacgerry
