DVD Player Problems

I have 7 of these units in my dental office. a couple of them no longer play DVDs. Is it possible to change out the DVD player? Or is that usually not the problem? I got them cheap, refurbished at e-Cost.com a few years ago. I know that combo units usually aren't recommended, but I got them for space saving. When I saw them at Costco, that gave them some credibility.

I have one at home. I'll bring it to the office tomorrow and use the canned air also. If it doesn't do the trick, I'll repost. Thanks.

While it is possible to replace dvd player you must look at the life left on unit. You purchased them refurbished so they have been in service a long time. I would not think it would be cost efetive to rebuild them again.

My suggestion new tech flat screens with hi def input low cost external dvd player w remote.
Player crashes few years keep flat screen buy new player.

Of course your existing LCD have video inputs nothing stopping you from buying external DVD players for them..
Walmart under $50.00each or surf online package deal.

Please rate if this helped.

Hi

Are the TVs working fine?Generally Akai parts are not easily available as its parts are made in Taiwan and India so you can only get them at Authorised Akai Service Centers.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

No longer plays dvd

It's probably either that you somehow no longer have the DVD player driver, or you no longer have software that can play DVDs. There is also the possibility that your DVD player is broken, in which case I would search on amazon for a new one. If it's the driver your missing, I believe you can download it here (scroll down to 'DVD player' and click the 'Download' link). Lastly, if you're missing software to play DVDs, you can probably just Google 'DVD Player Software". Hope this helps!

My samsung dvd player will not play dvds, but it

Are you trying to playing recordable DVDs (DVD+R or DVD-R) ? if so, try playing original DVDs (the type you rent or buy) those are pressed DVDs - if it works, then your player does not support DVD-R or DVD+R - If you are using a computer burner that supports bitsetting you can change the booktype of a DVD+R to DVD-ROM to fool your player.

If however your player cannot play either DVD-R, DVD+R nor original DVDs and only plays CDs, then your dvd laser diode is finished - there is one for CD and one for DVD, this is rare but happens, there is nothing you can do, any repairs would be very expensive - you are better off getting a new DVD player they are very inexpensive now and any repairs will cost you multiple times a new DVD player.

After playing a cd in unit will no longer read DVDs

Had the same symptom. The unit would play CDs but not DVDs. The DVD laser was at fault. Purchased and replaced laser unit KHM-313AHC (ebay- $20) and it now works fine.

Our Sony DVD player will not playimported DVDs from the UStates

1) those DVDs are coded in Region 1(Canada, United States; U.S. territories; Bermuda)
you will have to change the region code on the dvd-rom to region 1

2) if you bought the stand alone DVD player in the U.S. it will play region 1 dvds and nothing else(some dvd players will play region code 1-6)

3) to change the code in windows vista you'll have to go under the drive property's in the device manager go to the dvd region tab and set it to what ever the number on the back of the dvd is WARNING you only get 4 changes before the drive locks you out permanently then your stuck with what ever number you put in on the 4th try you've been warned

windows xp/2000/98/me
you'll have to change the region code from your software player again your limited on how many times you can change the region code before you have to reinstall the dvd player software

The microprocessor or memory componets on the player isnt functioning asits supposed too. This is rather troubling and there isnt any easy fixes possible.. My suggestion is seeing as its new return it and get a replacement. Chances are it will fail very soon.

WONT PLAY COPIED DVDS ANYMORE

were you able to play copied dvd's on this unit ? if yes then check setting on the dvd menu for things like DVD REGION and DVD playback speed and types of DVD playable, this is quite likely as i ha this problem on a pioneer model previously.

do those copied dvds no longer play on the same unit ? and you have tried them again on another unit or dvd player ?

rather i suspect problems with the DVD burn itself and its compatibility with the dvd player you are palying them on now (asuming settings in DVD enu are correct as loosely outlined above in point 1)

it may be that if this is a new dvd player than the one you played them on before, the dvd's may have to be closed in a certain way using your burning software so that they are playable on standard dvd players.
please also check that region is not an issue and that the recording speed of the dvd (the rip speed) is not too high or too low for your unit, as this data is stored on the written dvd and is responsible for the quality of the palyback data.

Sony DVD player color problem

All These units need servicing, They all are having problems with the video output circuit. It could be a coupling capacitor or the video chip itself heating up and distorting the output after short playing periods. This may be a simple fix of changing the output coupling capacitors. But it also may be some internal distortion in the chip. These unit need to be tested on a oscilloscope and check out in the video out input section to look for possible component failures. You should contact a service center that will test your unit and give you an evaluation of the cost effectiveness of a repair. Hope this helps you with your problems.

No sound playing DVDs

Is it connected to 5.1 amp??.The first thing to try is to go to set up menu and change the audio o/p to pcm track.See if this works. What has more than likely happened is unit is set to dolby digital and should be on pcm track instead. If this doesnt work more than likely fault in unit but have seen very few audio problems with dvds.
