Well i am not an expert on phones but try these methods: 1) On your G1 phone dial your own mobile number on it (just in case your voice mail number that came on your phones doesn't help you plus sometimes it asks you for your password and dialing your own number doesn't ask you this or at least on my G1 it doesn't) and it may prompt you to set up your voice mail and from there just follow the directions from there. or 2) Gently take the sims card (that small white chip next to the battery)  out of the phone and if you have another /old phone ( T mobile phone if possible) and place the card in there and dial your own number again then see what happens. If you get the voicemail set up in another phone take the sims card and put it back in the G1 and have someone to call you but either turn off the phone or don't answer it so this will give you the chance to test your voicemail. I used to have a razor and i had set my voice mail up on that. It stayed on there since i used the same sims card. I hope this can help but again i am not an expert.

How do i check my message from my home phone to my cell i have a htc hero. i forget my password.

call your mobile number. when your voicemail message begins playing hit star (*) or pound (#) (depends on carrier). it should ask for your pin/password.(hopefully you remember it) secondarily call Customer Care or do a master reset on your phone (this will clear all data)

I have no voicemail but the icon stays in the upper left part of my screen, I have taken the battery out & put back but to no avail. Any other suggestions?

have someone leave you a voicemail, then go somewhere where you get good signal to listen to it and then delete it, you need a good couple bars to get rid of the symbol, or thats how it was with my phone

Ringer and speakerphone not working

a lot of the system volumes were put back to default. I only realized this when I downloaded the "Audio Manager Widget". Then I found that I apparently missed a couple volume settings.
also It might be due to the In-Call volume. The only time you can adjust the In-Call volume is when you're in a call (duh!). So, I called my voicemail and put it on speakerphone just left it all the way up and now I can hear the dialpad tones again!
also I think it was swapping from vibrate to full volume when I received an SMS (or was doing multiple things at once).
All sound stopped working on the device. It's an Dream from Optus.
try a quick reboot.. that shud fix all the problems though

if all the above moethod fails... its time to call the manufacturer....

good luck

Voicemail on G1

You don't "Pay" to listen to voicemail unless you have a prepaid account. It does however come out of your minutes. Anytime you are using your phone you are using minutes. Now, as far as someone leaving a voice mail on your number, it does use minutes as well, but each rate plan comes with 500 minutes for voicemail (you can see this on your bill).

G1 charge light is not on but the phone is charging

Had a similar problem on my HTC (same maker of the g1) touch diamond, the charge light/indicator would stay on even after i took the cable out.

It could be just lag. Try doing a soft reset, where ever the reset button is on the G1 (Inside the back case?) If that doesn't help do a hard reset which deletes all data/settings (other than your carriers settings, your phone will still work), you would have to look in your manual, as I dont have a G1.

Ring 3 times then goes to Voicemail

Does the phone actually ring 3 times. I was having the same problem I was informed that it was not even going to my phone. When I had this same problem T_Mobile could not fix the problem using the 3 g network. If you shut off the 3g feature your problem will go away

Bluetooth My husband and I both have upgraded to G1 phones and neither phone will connect to bluetooth, we have tried with several phones, we can pair up to another phone (and each other) but when we try...

hiya, the G1 does not let you connect to other fones and will not enable you to send ringtones pictures etc wether it is a g1 or any other make! t-mobile are working on this to set up the application! they will notify us g1 users when it is available. hope this helps you out

all the best

MY G1 won't dial from the contacts list.

you probably had the sim card in a phone that had text messages stored on it.....might be time for a new sim card.....

try turning off the handset and turning it on again. eitherway, if you replace the sim card that should update the voicemail number in the network fixing that error. or just call t-mobile at 1800-937-8997 and they should be able to gix it from there. this is a network malfunction that cannot be fixed from your end if the powercycle fails. good luck!

INCOMING CALLS

Hi there, it is possible that you have the G1 set into "always Forward" state, which means when receiving calls the phone will forward the caller to your voicemail.

To Check and change these settings. goto the G1's Home screen, Click the "Menu" button, and then click on "Call settings". Then from here click on "Call Forwarding".

From here, the top setting should say "Always Forward" If this is set to Enabled, click on it and select Disable. This should now allow you to receive calls correctly ! if the Always forward function was disabled already, i would suggest calling T-Mobiles Customer support line to see if they have a remedy to this situation !

Hope this helps ?!
