On most routers there is a place to type in a "Range" of ports. Instead of typing in each port, open the range you are looking for. For instance start 1-20 instead of typing 2 ports per line.

How do I find my port number to set up a security camera

A port number for the camera? Or do you need to set up a port on the external interface of your router so that you can see the stream from your security camera from the Internet?

How to forward port for a IP camera on a Huawei 655b modem ?

You can't port forward on a modem. On a router, yes. You just need to set the a static IP on the camera outside of your DHCP range. Then select a port above 1024 and set that port to point to the static IP. You should only need to port forward UDP. Optionally you would want to setup a dyndns account since your public IP from your ISP is dhcp and therefore doesn't always stay the same.

How to set up wep security on a linksys router that was already set up with no password it is a linksys wrt54g on lrouter a dsl network

Hi
Begin setup of your Linksys Wireless Router by first plugging in the power. Give it 10 seconds or so to initialize and then plug an ethernet cable into your wall jack and into the port on the back of the router marked Internet. Next get another ethernet cable and plug one end into your laptop and the other into one of the ports labeled 1-4 on the router. Your computer is now properly connected to the router to begin its setup and configuration.
thanks & rgds

I cant open port for Zhone 6211-I3-200 Router

Some times you will need to open the Logical Ports on the router.
These are the logical ports.
For this you will need to open the set up interface of the router.
Once you open the set up interface of the router, you will be able to find the settings on the router where you can open the ports for the particular program.

If you are opening the ports for a special device in your network, then you must know the IP address of that device.
For example, wireless camera, DVR, X-box, Play station ...
You can choose the option PORT FORWARDING for a special device application.
If you just want to open the ports for all the network, then you can choose PORT TRIGGERING

Portable devices recognize router but cannot connect

Try to change the wireless security to WPA-PSK(TKIP) or WEP.

1. Check physical connections.

a. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router. The Internet “i” LED on the front of the router should light up.
b. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.

2. Access the router's web-based utility.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. By default, the user name is "admin" and the password is "password".

Note: If you were unable to access the router's web-based utility, you may reset the router to restore the settings to factory default.

Configure the wireless settings.

a. Click on the Wireless Settings under Setup.
b. Change the SSID to any unique name.
c. Scroll down, look for the Security Options settings and select WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy).
d. Set the Authentication type to "Automatic" and the Encryption Strength to "64bit".
e. Leave the Passphrase field blank, select Key 1 and enter a 10-digit number.

Note: The 10-digit number you typed in the key 1 will be the password or network key for the wireless connection.

From the above configuration, please try to connect your portable device to the wireless settings of your Netgear router.

Port forward

I am assuming that you are running the camera in a remote place that is NOT your home. (Such as work.)

Do you have access to the on-site location's gateway/router system? If so, make sure that you are logging into the camera's web interface.

Do the following:

1.) Assign a STATIC IP to the camera.
2.) Make sure you know the ISP's DNS information and enter it into the camera's config accordingly. (Typically, you can also use your internet connection gateway device as the DNS server for a device as well. ISP's DNS is more direct, however.)
3.) DESIGNATE A PORT NUMBER FOR THE CAMERA TO GO THROUGH ON YOUR ROUTER.
4.) Enable UPnP in the camera so the device makes itself known to any router on the network so it can dynamically open ports as needed. Video feeds may or may not work without this.
5.) Save your configuration of course.
6.) Login to the on-site router of the network that your camera is connected to.
7.) Go to NAT/Port Forwarding/Whatever it's called in the router...and make an entry for the camera's designated STATIC IP. Make sure that you get the right port number on the entry as well.
8.) Save your configuration.

Optional step: If your ISP is not using a STATIC IP for your internet connection, then use a Dynamic IP site such as http://www.dynip.com to help dynamically adjust for sudden or regular IP changes of your network's internet connection. (That way you can also just type in a URL and port number for your camera instead of memorizing an IP.) Note: This may require you to install software on a local system to update the DynIP site with your current WAN IP. (The camera appears to have the ability to do this on it's own, however. Find the options in the camera's web interace.)

If you have followed these steps in general and adapted to them where necessary...you should have a working video feed from the camera...

...unless you ARE using a network connection at work for it and your administrators have locked out certain network functions that the camera is requiring.

In that case...

...contact your system administrator for assistance. LOL

Good luck!

Cyryl
