Hi, i have vista premium, my microsoft works has been working fine, went to open today and just keeps saying an error has occured, file is missing/renamed or deleted, to reinstall.
I have the micrsoft works suite 2004 (didn't come with this computer) and have tried to reinstall with this, to no avail. have also searched through mirosoft help/support and downloads/updates.
i thought about uninstalling the programme and trying to install again, but there are a few products in the list....i dont want to uninstall anything i shouldn't...any help/advise would be much appreciated.

The product key as you probably know, is printed on the Windows Label underside of your notebook. Unfortunately, if someone has taken the number and registered a fresh machine with it, it has been stolen and will not let you use it again. It may be worth contacting Microsoft and send them a photo of the label as proof. Otherwise you are stuck with having to purchase a fresh system from Microsoft. Hope that helps.
IF it came with a Vista Install, and you are installing the exact same Vista, then YES, The "Key" on the bottom, is the right one and it will absolutely work. These units have a BIOS that has a special Activation Code inside. The Windows install "Sees" that "Code" and Activates Vista. You DO need to user an ACER Version though, this can be downloaded from the "net though, as an ISO,burn that to DVD, and you can use that.
Hallow Dear, Please use this link to download Drivers for your PC (20M) XP/Vista- ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38501-39000/sp38688.exe Operating Systems Microsoft Windows 2000 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Microsoft Windows XP Professional Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise 32 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic 32 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Business 32 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Starter 32 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise 64 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic 64 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Business 64 Edition Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Edition This Will Completely Solve your Prob; if there is no any internal Hardware Problems with Quick Lunch Buttons (I feel there is no any coz u mention about Ding Sound. That mean your system is recognizing your key input & all you need is Just program those keys – above setup will do that) ** If you didn’t solve your prob; my advice is take your lap to a good technician with component level Repair skills. Thank you & Best Regards Dinu….
You have clicked a link to Fixya which has nothing to do with Best Buy, but the product key on the back is for Windows operating systen, not Microsoft Works, unless there is a sepearte sticker for works also.
If it's a new notebook, then there will be a Works installation key code with the packaging somewhere.
