Question about Brother MFC-8840D All-In-One Laser Printer

MFC 8840 LCD Displays Bars, no words and beeps

We powered down the printer when we changed to a new wireless router. When we booted it back up the LCD Display showed a bunch of bars at the top and would beep several times, stop, then beep several times again. We sat there and this do that for awhile, but that is all it did. We tried shutting it down for a longer period of time and even unplugging the power cord. Nothing has helped. Thoughts?

i would suggest that you need to contact your router manufacturer regarding this because you are trying to setup the printer wirelessly.once you change your modem your router should communicate w/ it and it needs to be configure by your router as well for a good communication

Try and shut down the printer and turning it back on. Hold down the power key for 5 seconds or so. Then turn it back on to see if you have your connection showing on your task bar on the bottom of the screen. there should be a green halo around the printer. You may need to reboot your router too.

My printer is connected to the internet, but status is 'offline'

Hey Bud. I had the exact same issue with mine. I called around and no one had an educated answer. I remembered that my Uncle Lester works for the IP department for the city of Beaumont. I called his house and of course he was at work. Just for grins I asked his 8 year old daughter how to fix it. She simply said, "Just unplug the router and plug it back in.... What a ********...." Then she hung up... Neddless to say this seems to work for everything else too.... Good luck.

Ignore the instructions that come with the printer, choose Open System, then choose WEP, enter, and it hooks up. Thanks to the above posters for this solution.
