Since your grill is a built-in model and hasn't been used in 2 years, I hope the grill has remained covered during that time. If not, I suspect that any inclement weather may be playing a role in this. To test the lid lift motor, you will need to track the wiring from the switch panel to the motor. Making sure all the wires are still connected and have not been damaged by small vermin. Also, I suspect if you check your owners manual, you may find that the motor has either a circuit breaker or a fuse that is designed to protect the motor and may have been tripped or blown. If the grill has remained uncovered, even the switch on the console may have suffered from water damage over the past 2 years.
It all else fails, contact the authorized Fire Magic dealer you purchased the grill from or the manufacturer, the R.H.Peterson Company, Technical Service @ 800-332-3973.
