Question about Sony Xplod Car Audio Amplifier XM-DS1300P5 - 800 Watts Mono Amplifier Car Audio Amplifier

No sound from Subwoofers after hooking up amp??

I just bought a sony xplod xm-zr1252 amp hooking it up to two 12" subs. All the wiring was already in the car. Hooked up the amp, got power to it (blue light), hooked up to subs and no sound. Took it back to where I bought it and they tested the subs which worked fine. So then tried a new amp in the car and still didn't work. Tried new rca cables and that didn't do anything either. Really flustered with this?

How should i arrange the wiring on my xm-zr1852 xplod amplifier to get the best performance out of my 12'' audiobahn subwoofers?

it depends on the impedance of the subs-if your subs are dual 4 ohm coils then you can parallel the coils which will give you 2 ohms per sub- you could get max performance from your amp by just wiring the 2 ohm speaker load to each channel of the amp which will hit them with about 200 watts rms each. another way to do it is to wire the coils in series which will make each sub an 8 ohm load and then parallel them together and that will show a 4 ohm load -which you can use to run the amp safely in bridged mode. This will give you exactly the same amount of power to your subs as in 2 ohm stereo will. so with your amp being 2 ohm stable in stereo or 4 ohm stable in bridged mode- those are the numbers you want to hit for maximum"safe" operation

How to measure watts

You need a Volt Meter and an Ohm Meter. P = VI & I = V/r, so Power = (Volt^2)/Ohms .

You can get the ohms by hooking them up to the subwoofer input wires, and you get the volts by hooking up to the amp output terminals/wires. Although, amps will put out different voltages for different frequences, this should give you ballpark estimates.

Sony Xplod XM-1652Z Car Audio Amplifier cuts out when turned up loud

The best thing to do is to get a amp that is more watts than your subs, not the other way around, speakers are known to handel a lil more power but amps cant produce more power than they are capable of... your ground wire should be thick also, say 6 to 8 mm or so, and its best to put in a cap and an equalizer.
Cheers

You cannot parallel two subs AND run them on the Bridge. You must have at LEAST a 4 ohm load on the bridge, and 2 4 ohm subs in parallel equals TWO OHMS. BAD!!! Move each sub to it's own channel or your amp will soon fry.
