Question about Water Pik Flow Valve Assy. Series II Bronze 325

DE back flow into pool

I've installed a new pump and filter for an in-ground pool. Ive also installed a check valve from the pump to the filter inlet. The problem I have is when the pump turns off, I see some diatomatous earth back flow into the pool (not a lot but enough to irritate me). I've also noticed that the pump bucket (I'm sure it's not called that, but it the thing with a clear cover) has very little water in it after being turn off for awhile (hours). It doesn't makes sense since the inlet to the pump bucket is higher than the outflow which is at the bottom of the bucket...any ideas? Maybe another check valve between the pool and the pump?

The system is back-siphoning when the pump is turned off. This means the check valve is not totally closing -- it has a slight leak-by issue.

Is the check valve installed in the proper orientation? If not, it's not working as it should.

How do I remove elbo/check valve on ec65. Seems to be really stuck on.

the main drain should be on suction side of pool system (unless it was converted to be a return for safety reasons) since it is on the suction side of system, it is impossible to have DE entering pool at this point.

You say that you can see a large flow through the pump cover but that water must be coming from the pool somehow. It must be coming through the main drain. If you turn the main drain off then the flow from the skimmer should increase considerably. If it doesn't the issue could be caused by a nearly plugged line between the skimmer basket and the pump. I have had similar symptoms and I started by using a drain jet device on a hose to force water backwards from the pump to the skimmer with the main drain valve turned off. I couldn't clear the plug so I had to dig the line up and found a bad area of the piping where it made a reduced pipe size 90 degree turn. Sycamore bark, leaves and twigs were stuck at that pinch point.

I hope this helps.

Can a person use a hayward de ec40 for either above ground pools or inground pools? if not why?

Yes as long as you are sure to match the flow rate of the pump to the filter. The biggest limit will be the low maximum flow rate the EC40 has. It will clog up to fast if installed on a larger pool...inground pools are generally larger (more gallons of water) than above ground. The pumps are more important to match as far as using inground rated units for inground pools and above ground for inground. Filters only care about flow rate and overall volume of water to keep clean.

How do you backwash to lower water level with the Pinnacle pump?

The model of pump doesn't really matter,You backwash the filter by changing the position of the backwash valve (while the pump is off). If you have a D.E. filter, be sure to add fresh D.E. powder to the filter when you are back in "filter" position.

Try checking the users manual. I don't have an exact answer for you, unfortunately, but the users manual for these pool filters is comprehensive and has diagrams. Hopefully, you can find your answer there.

What settings are best on the two (2), 3 way psv diverter valves on a hayward pool de filter system

First figure out how the valves work. In the filter mode the valves should be set so the pressure from the pump flows into the input of the filter and the output of the filter flows into the return line to the pool. In the backwash mode the pressure from the pump flows into the output of the filter and the input of the pump flows to the drain line. These are the two main modes.

Hose keeps popping off of sunheater panel

Panel is most likely creating too much back pressure for the pump. The solar panel creates a major restriction in the flow of water, which is why the hose keeps poping. You can try a couple of thing,

1. The panel should be installed after the filter. Sequence should be Pump to filter to panel to pool.
2. Install a longer hose from filter to panel, will reduce pressure. Or install a diverter valve which you can control the amount of water going to the panel, sending some straight to the pool.
3. If you roof mounted the panel and it goes from the Pump to filter to a booster pump to solar panel, you will need to install a check valve to reduce the back pressure.

I installed a new pentair de filter and new multiport valve. at start up the filter pressure reads 40 psi. after multiple backwashes and rinses the pressure goes down to about 15 psi but slowly climbes...

If the pressure is 15 psi on recirculate, and high on filter, the problem is the filter itself, or the valve plumbing. The DE filters are unusal in the fact that they are plumbed like a sand filter, NOT the cartridge filter. If you could give details as to which filter AND multiport valve you have (look on sticker for model number on valve) it would help to figure out if the problem is in the filter or valve.

Pent air pool filter

Buddy is this happening, after the pump turns off or during.. Need more info.. type of filter.. Sometimes the sleeves on the neck area of the panel. Where it mates with the manifold slide down, you will have a small opening. Might be from their.. Could be a hole on one of the panels. Do you have a push/pull valve or a multiport valve (to back wash)
