Question about GE DWSR483EBWW Electric Dryer
My GE Dryer modle DWSR483EA1ww will not stop rotating unless I open the door. Regardless of which setting I turn it to,the knob never moves, nor does the dryer stop running until I open the door. Also, the dryer takes forever to dry even the smallest load of laundry. I have had it for 5 years. Help!
First thing you should do is check the flow of your vent, a clogged vent can cause all your problems check it outside while the unit is running you should get really good flow compare it to the flow of the dryer with the vent hose off the dryer completly. they should be fairly close or just run it with out the vent hooked up to the vent if you have an electric but not with a gas dryer

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.
Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.
