Have you tried reinstalling itunes. Does sound work anywhere else like Windows media player, a game or DVD. Please let us know if this fixes the issue.

check to see if you don't have mute checked in the sound control panel.

Hi,

Try restarting your laptop and check your sound ,if the problem persists.
Follow the steps below ,assuming that you are using Windows 7 :

1. Go to Control Panel from the Start-Menu.
2. Click on Sound on the window that opens up.
3. Check whether the default device is correct ,and do a "test sound".
4. If the problem still persists ,contact your hardware support.

Thanks

restore using the utility system restore go to control panel, and put the last day that you know was working good.
However you can use cleaner contacts solvent and fix it. Open in control panel the icon sound and use the tabs for headphone, and test the troubleshooting.
You mus sure that you headphone is good, try to test in another computer or CD, DVD. etc
God bless you

How do I diagnose and fix my laptop's sound problem? Should I just throw it out the window?

which operating system

You receive an error that states: There might be a problem with your audio device

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to sound video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to

reinstall drivers

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers make sure you have selected the

(appropriate speakers) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the correct speaker settings there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it

if his does not fix the problem

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker

volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any

further volume control settings you will need to right click on the speaker volume icon system select adjust volume

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers select the appropriate speakers

from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand system

speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check

the speaker plug/outlets is usually at the back of the computer or if its a laptop on the side

you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make

sure the connection is good with no dust as dust causes static electricity

clean your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is

no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit

dust causes static to build up in a computer

hope this helps

Headphone jack works but no sound

I had this problem too, only there was zero sound, even when I clicked Test. I know the jack is good because it's never done any of the typical crackling or cutting out when the cord is pulled in a certain direction, etc. - I knew it had to be a setting of some kind. So here's how I solved this particular problem:

[N.B. - This is in Windows 7 OS]
I went into Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Sound -> Manage Audio Devices.

In the popup window's Playback tab (which comes up by default,) I right-clicked on Headphones, then clicked Properties. The new popup window's General tab comes up as default; I clicked on the Levels tab, where there's a slider control for headphone volume. For whatever reason, this was set to 0. I changed it to 100 and I immediately got sound. 'Clicked OK, and exited Control Panel.
