Question about Canon Printers & Copiers

I have been away and not used the Canon MP970 printer for 3 weeks - it was turned off. I am now noticing very slightly darker lines 5mm apart when I print high quality photos. I have done some of the automatic maintenance but no improvement. Appreciate any advice - Ian K

    I have changed cartridges and would be surprised if it is the drivers. It appears to be a mechanical printing issue.

    I have done the maintenance cleaning on the menu. I will do deep cleaning.

If the maintenance features do not fix it their is really nothing else you can do outside of trying new cartridges. How long have you owned the printer? Most likely it may be in need of repair/replacement.

Your problem is not related to drivers .

You need to do print head cleaning in your printer .

Hi, have you tried switch ink cartridges to make sure that they are not the problem. If new ones don't change the quality, then the next step is to try uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch the printer and its drivers.

    Well, I would still go with a software failure especially if the pictures are fine, you may also have a clogged head from the ink drying and you could try cleaning that but if this only happens on the fine printing, then somewhere I would think there is a software failure but you could be right about a hardware failure too. It is difficult to know on my end without knowing how it is printing otherwise and how big of a difference it is and how fine of a line it is.

Do some maintenance on the printer. Print head cleaning, deep print head cleaning, alingment etc should fix the problem.

    Please follow this detailed guide on perfoming maintenance, deep cleaning is recommended to do 2 times, if no improvement is shown.

    The print head nozzles are most likely clogged, this is not related to computer drivers.

No power on canon mp970


Check to make sure power supply cord is in good and tight, the other option is take the power suppy apart and check for a open fuse, usually I find parts are compromised when this happens, but you might get lucky, failing this! cheaper to replace than have it repaired.

I have the same problem with my Canon MG6150. Lines a bit narrower, but still. Only noticable on the dark colours. Try the cleaning program, as it is probably a clogged nozzle. It helped for me, a bit.

Streaks in darker colors HELP.....


This can be caused by an incorrect paper type set for the printer. Go into the printer menu and select "Quality & Media" change the setting to the correct type of paper you are using. If this is not the issue you could use the maintenance menu for the printer e.g. clean the printer nozzles, paper alignment etc, Also see if there are driver or software updates from Canon's website for your printer.

Dark Blurry Ink Line


When I print darker color images I get what I call Zebra stripes across the picture on a slant about 1/2 inch apart. Changed the toner and the drums are at 45% capacity. Any suggestions. Thank you.

Cleaning Area


Try dusting the feeder out with compressed air. Then clean the glass with a flat razor blade to get any stubborn gunk that glass cleaner won't get. then spray a rag with streak free glass cleaner and rub the glass strip several times. good luck.
