Re: need to replace the case of a gateway mt3705
Replacing a case is one of the most involved repairs on a laptop because you are basically disassembling the entire thing. You will want to be very careful as there are plastic clips you can break, start by removing the harddrive, the memory door / memory and battery. Take all the screws from the bottom (tape them down on a piece of paper to remember their position, you can write down labels from where they came from. when this is done you should be able to remove the cd drive and lift the keyboard. Remove all the screws from under the keyboard, and remove the ribbon connectors. The upper and lower plastic should snap apart with a little tension. After your inside you can remove the rest of the screws to take out the motherboard. These instructions are generic to most laptops, your should be fairly similar.

You may need to download the driver(s) and any possible apps for your laptop. This is based on the assumption that your laptop supports Windows 7. If this is the case, Gateway should have the available drivers for you web cam. Worse case scenario is that you'll have to search the internet for the driver(s) in case Gateway does not have them.
wow this is quite the job you are undertaking but can be done, as far as amanual to take this aparty the only way i know to get one is through gateway themselves and good luck with that, having said this i took apart my laptop and replaced the fan but it wasnt easy and theres a bout 100 screws
arrghhhhhh! Dont! unless you want to throw this laptop in the bin after the experience do not attempt to open it. Getting it back together is a nightmare. The keyboard fitting is something else, things drop out and drop off all over the place. Take it to a dealers and let then send it in for a repair. At least it will be in a complete piece when its returned to you
