Windows Vista can no longer see my Nvida GS 7100 Card

My VGA to DVI card was working perfectly. Just two days ago the monitor stopped working. When i looked for the card in devise manager, can not located it. I have attempted to re-install but still can't seem to get Windows Vista to see the card. I have tied to disable the standard VGA video card in hope to eliminate any conflict, but still nothing. Any asssitance would be apprciated.

It sounds like your video card has gone out. Is the VGA and DVI ports on the same video card? If so the card is probably bad.

The DVI cable must be faulty as the card does work with the VGA cable as you have stated.

You should have 2 video ports on the 8400 GS card. One is the standard 15 pin VGA port and the other is the DVI port. You should be able to use these ports on the card to connect dual monitors. If you use the video port integrated on the motherboard you will bypass the 8400 GS card. Here's a link from Microsoft about running dual displays:

The other issue is whether your monitors are DVI compatible.

Hello ghinea18, sorry you can't do that because this will cause hardware conflict, that's why motherboard bios automatically disable integrated graphics if you install video card using pci express x16 slot - Nvidia GeForce 7300SE. do you know if your video card has dual vga or dual dvi connection?

You can try dual display, im not sure if this card supports dual monitors because nvidia online specs does not show full specs on 7300se series. \

My syncmaster 245 bw will only display a blank screen through the dvi port. Another crt monitor works fine through the vga port . I'm running a nVidia 7800 GS video card.

You need to adjust the monitor refresh rate to 60 Hertz or 70 Hertz.
Use the CRT first to adjust it, then after adjust,plug in your Sync Master to see is it perfect or not,find the best frequency that work best.

To adjust it,right click on the screen,enter properties, then click setting tab.
Then in advanced tab, click it then you see the monitor tab, find the perfect screen refresh rate.

Seems that u want to watch the movies on your TV, fo which there are many VGA to DVI converters out there in the market, one is http://www.pacificcable.com/More_Pages/DVI/VGA-To-DVI-Converter.html
Also it might be cheaper to use a VGA to component out converter as almost all TV's have a component in, and in any case with a GeForce 6150 u are not going to get great output :-(

Nvidia GeForce 7200 GS PCIE - Multi-Display does not work

This card does not allow you to Multi-Display with the VGA port and the S-video port. If you put a DVI to VGA port adaptor (not supplied) on the DVI port, you can Mulit-Display two VGA monitors and (presumably) a VGA (from the DVI port) and S-video monitor.

This is not explained anywhere and the card does not come with a DVI to VGA port adaptor, so I wa only able to work this out after I bought the DVI to VGA port adaptor.
