I removed the drivers, now I cannot find a site to download and reinstall the drivers. Any suggestions?

I did everything you suggested but to no avail. I do feel better knowing that I tried everything before I replace the drive. I really appreciate your help.

Hi, I found the answer to this for myself on the Dell Community Forum. It works! The original problem is caused by itunes or similar software that targets your your cd/dvd drive.

Unfortunately, I have seen this problem all too often on notebook computers. Most of the time, the drive needs to be replaced. On occasion, the drivers are faulty and the problem can be fixed by re-installing the drivers.

First, try to reinstall the drivers and reboot the computer. If that doesn't work, you will need to replace the drive itself.

Hope this helps.

Hi. I'm having same problem with my dvd drive. At times it works, at times it doesn't. What absolutly is not working is if I try to make a copy of a DVD. Problems start especially when I'm trying to burn a DVD. I've tried the link to microsoft, but it hasn't work for me. I'm quite frustrated by now, and am thinking buying new external dvd bunrer. If anyone knows other possible solution, please... I will appreciate. Thanks.

Kel,

1) Left-click on Start
2) Right-click on My Computer.
3) Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
4) Left-click on the Hardware tab.

5) Left-click on Device Manager
6) Left-click on the + sign next to Disk drives
7) Right-click on the name of the optical drive -

TSST TS L632H
(Name and model number, actually. may just have TS L632H )

8) Left-click on Properties
9) Left-click on the Driver tab
10) At the bottom left-click on Uninstall

A Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up.
"Warning you are about to uninstall this device, ya-da, ya-da."
Left-click on OK.

Close all windows. Go back to your desktop screen. Turn the computer off.
(Start > Turn Off Computer > Turn Off )

Wait 1 minute. Turn the laptop back on.
After Windows has fully loaded, (And all the programs you have in the Start menu), you should see a pop-up out of the system tray.

"Found IDE/ATA device", and perhaps another one after it,
"Found TSST TS L632H"

No?
Suggest you remove the optical drive, and reinstall it again.

Not that big a deal. One screw, and it slides out. There are contact pins that may be 'corroded'.
(They are gold plated. Gold isn't supposed to corrode. My word )

By unplugging it, (BY sliding it out), and plugging it in again, it will help clean the contact pins. Mostly it helps ensure the optical drive is plugged in tight.

Try to uninstall your optical drive on device manager and restart your system.
->if that doesn't work try a firmware update.
->if that still doesn't work,replace optical drive.
that should resolve your problem

TSST Corp CD/DVD RW TS-L632M ATA device wont play discs. Driver is current

I also have the TSST cd/dvd with the same problem but I just realized that is a comflict between all these programs I have installed (Windows Media Player, Sonic and Roxio Easy Creator 6). WMP will not even show it, then I went to Roxio audio central an it worked perfectly. I tried to change the default back to WMP but it wont take it. I believe this happens because Roxio was the last I installed and took control of the sound. Hope this help. I will be uninstalling my WMP and installing it again so that I can keep it as my first choice.

Error 39, corrupt DVD/CD-Rom Drive

This has been a common windows issue. I'm sure that this will solve your problem. You can go to this link, http://tinyurl.com/toshibadvd, download the registry file and run it. After that, just restart your computer and it should be good to go.

If you're not sure and is worried about security since this is messing with the registry, you can just click on this microsoft link where it explains and gives you detailed instructions on how to manually edit the registry and fix the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461.

This is typically the same thing, the first one is just a shortcut on how to do it. Just a reminder, EDIT THE REGISTRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
