Like RSBennett said, it is a good idea to unplug your laptop when not inuse and if you run your battery down regularly, as it will last longer, by doing this you will NOT lose any of your files, as this is also recommended by ALL manufacturers.

I hope this helps clearifies your question.
Good Luck.

No, it's not a problem to unplug your notebook computer from the wall when shutting down for the day. In fact, leaving your notebook plugged in all the time is bad for your battery. Your battery will have a long life if it is plugged in to charge and then unplugged while using the computer, and allowed to discharge fully (or down to 10% or so), and then plugged back in.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

First please try to boot to last known good configuration ..

To load the last known good configuration in Windows 2000 / XP reboot the computer and as it's booting booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Last Known Good Configuration" and press your Enter key. .

If you will still see the same problem, then please boot to safe mode..

To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

From safe mode you can restore your PC to the latest restore point when your laptop is working fine.

Windows Vista does not come on the screen when I turn on my computer.

Try removing the battery and using the laptop only with wall power.

Compaq Presario 2135 power mode light is always on even when laptop is powered off

Are you sure it's the power light? It could be the light indicating that you are connected to a wall outlet.
Try unplugging the computer from the wall and see if the light is, in fact, out.
Also, make sure that the computer is off and not just sleeping.

My compaq pressario CQ56 will not shut down, nothing I do will turn it off.

My first solution is to hold down your power button, which will take a few seconds, and wait for the computer to shut down. If for any unlikely reason that this does not work, unplug the wall charger from the laptop, and very carefully unhook the battery from the bottom. I would not suggest unplugging the batter, only as a last resort if holding the power button does not work.

Try and take the battery out and leave the machine connected to the AC power and see if it will boot up without the battery. You may have shorted the battery out .

Hello. I can help you. As you indicate the problem could be the computer itself, the battery, the charging system, or the outlet you are using to plug into.

That said, begin by shutting the computer down and removing the battery for two minutes. That will reset some parameters and may solve your problem.

While you are waiting the two minutes, plug something else into that outlet, say a lamp just to be sure there is power there. If there is no power then go to your electrical panel and check the fuse or circuit breaker, which ever you have.

Now plug the computer in, still leaving the battery out and turn it on. if it operates that way unplug it again and reinstall the battery.

If the computer works on direct electricity but not on battery you could consider buying a new battery.

Regards, Joe.

Hi there.
Take the battery out and try to boot on AC power only, if it boots up, turn it back off and reinsert the battery and try to boot again.
If it still suffers from the same symptoms please post back for more advice.

Good luck

IF I UNPLUG MY COMPUTER FROM WALL OUTLET AFTER USING IT IN EVENING SHOULD I '''ALSO UNPLUG''' MY WIRELESS ROUTER??

Hello, there is no need to unplug anything, you may want to buy a power strip and plug the computer and router into it then you can switch it on and off, (that is if your doing this to save power)
