Have you gone to the manufacturers web site and checked for other owners having this same problem, u can also contact Microsoft tech support by phone and explain that with Vista u have this problem not with previous operating system, going to the source is always the best way to resolve these kinds of software conflict issues.

Each time you change the paper you need to gou into the printer properties page and change paper type in settings.

Also lower down the resolution when printing on plain paper, try also setting to economy/fast print mode.

If the above does not help, then the printer has a fault.

Hello,

Just a quick question are you using the canon brand photo papper or an off brand?

If your using canon that there might be a charge error when printing. But if your using an off brand paper sometimes the paper is not hold a charge properly for the toner to adhere. And another part could be the a printhead not able to write on the glossy paper.

Thank you John C

One more thing it could be is the control board. If its sending wrong signals from the board to the print head telling it how to print on certain paper that could cause an issue.

I review some others who were having this problem on another website:  http://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?p=104795
Try so set the printer paper setting to plain, but keep the glossy paper in the printer.  See how that prints out. Check out the above link, also for some other suggestion.

Have you changed from canon paper to some other brand? The printer driver is compensating for the actual coloration of the Canon paper (and/or ink absorption characteristics). The glossy papers and the matte photo paper will come out with a color cast based on the paper. Only plain paper and iron-on transfers came out without color casts.

If you use paper from other manufacturers, you need to set the driver to match that particular paper's color characteristics, and NOT use the equivalent paper type in the driver. For example, Kodak lists what settings to use with their photo paper in lots of different printer drivers, which is usually the "plain paper" setting with some explicit adjustments to the intensity of individual inks.

Hi!

Please select the paper type as glossy or photo paper before printing. You can do it from printing prefrences under printers icon in control panel.

Go to Control panel-> printers-> right click on default printer(canon s900)-> general tab-> printing prefrences-> cahnge the paper type and then try and print.

If its not printing fine then align the print cartridges 3-4 times for better results, also perform head clean.

    Please ask for any clarifications.

    Thanks

Also try deep cleaning the print head by---

To deep clean the printhead in Windows:

    1. With the printer on, click 'Start, then Settings, then Printers. ( For Windows XP, click Start, then Control Panel, then Printers and Other Hardware, then Printers and Faxes). The Maintenance tab may vary for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

    2. Right-click the appropriate printer icon, then click 'Properties'.

    3. Click the 'Maintenance' tab, then click 'Deep Cleaning'

, then click 'OK'. The printer will clean the printhead.

I have a Epson pro large format 9600, I print on canvas, I have use Photo black since I have it, but never getting a saturation ressult. I have been counsil by Epson to use Matt black rather than Phot

"Photo black" is designed specifically for glossy photo paper. Matte black is for non-glossy paper, including plain paper. Matte black will print darker on non-glossy paper than photo black does.

Canon i965 printer

First ensure it is not a cartridge problem, try a replacement.
It does not look like a print head problem, it can be a driver problem or a logic fault in the printer.

I have a canon mp 240 and it Prints fine if you only need half of the document. It cuts everything in half! Like it reads the header wrong or blows up the words or make extra spaces. How can I get it to...

I thought maybe you have the paper size set to Landscape rather than Portrait. If not, then you might look at:

http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp240#ServiceAndSupport

I did some searching on that site and it yielded the hlep below which may give you some help.

Issue: How do I set my printer so my printout fits the paper size I am using?
Solution: Use the recommended Print Area MP240

Printing Area title-bar.gif To ensure the best print quality, the machine allows a margin along each edge of media. The actual printable area will be the area inside these margins.
Recommended printing area (dark blue):
Canon recommends that you print within this area. (o_darkblue13.jpg)
Printable area (light blue):
The area where it is possible to print. (o_lightblue14.jpg)
However, printing in this area can affect the print quality or the paper feed precision.

o_area15.jpg i_note.gif Note
Borderless Printing
By selecting the Borderless Printing option, you can make prints with no margins.
bullet_s.gif When performing Borderless Printing, slight cropping may occur at the edges since the printed image is enlarged to fill the whole page.
bullet_s.gif For Borderless Printing, use the following paper.
- Glossy Photo Paper "Everyday Use" GP-501
- Photo Paper Glossy GP-502
- Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss SG-201
- Photo Paper Pro Platinum PT-101
- Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201
-Photo Paper Pro II PR-201
- Matte Photo Paper MP-101
Performing Borderless Printing on any other type of paper may substantially reduce printing quality and/or result in printouts with altered color hues.
Borderless Printing on plain paper may result in printouts with reduced quality. Use them only for test printing. You can perform Borderless Printing on plain paper only when printing from your computer.
bullet_s.gif Depending on the type of paper, Borderless Printing may reduce the print quality at the top and bottom edges of the paper or cause these parts to become smudged.

My R1900 is over 1 year old. Profiles are set for Epson glossy and matte paper. Epson ink is used. Colors are now very green when printing to glossy or matte paper. However, if I use the plain paper...

The difference in choosing the paper type will have an impact on how head squirts ink onto the media. For Epson printers, the best choice to fit the color is plain paper. However, to the maximum dpi (best photo or photo rpm), plain paper does not support. This can be overcome by adjusting the color management of the program that we use.Or convert to bitmap all objects (such as Corel Draw), or also in print as bitmap option.

My printer has problems printing dark colours. When printing pictures or text, it leaves horizontal lines on black only. I have a continuis ink system which has lots of black. Any ideas?

Try changing the print paper type to something other than plain paper. Use the matte paper setting, or the photo glossy. The printer will lay down more ink at these specialty settings.

Printing options have disappeared (re plain paper; glossy paper; CD etc)

here is ur fix

The paper types available in the driver are dependent on which type of black ink cartridge is loaded in the printer. If the Photo Black ink is loaded, you should have various glossy paper choices. If the Matte Black ink is loaded, you will have a choice of plain or Matte paper types. Once the cartridge is switched, you will get the corresponding paper choices.
