Thanks, But when I take the phone apart all I see on the front part is the screen and speakers, can't get to the keypad without having to remove all the other stuff and I'm not sure if that is really a good idea!

    Average Jane, THANKS!!!!

I would not open my phone because I was afraid I would mess it up and after reading that the 'tech' guy hadn't even done it, I just didn't have the courage! But, after reading your comments, I was encourgaged to take the chance and it WORKED!! I did the same thing you did, just wiped the white pad with a Q-tip, didn't see anything but figured it was worth a try and that is all it needed! I also believe that it was an answered prayer from GOD! I purchased the phone outright and had no insurance on it! My husband and I prayed for it continually and if you had not posted, I would probably still have a broken phone!!! THANK YOU!

This just happened to me last night. I FIXED IT!

The bottom half was working, the top keyboard was not working. The only button on the top that worked was the power key. Today, I got a screwdriver and took the whole entire thing apart. Start by removing the battery, then take out the 6 back screws. Gently pull the back apart - this will be tough, do it evenly around all sides instead of getting just one side and yanking or you might break it. two of the screws on the top are accessible readily, but the two near the hinge are only accessible once the back is apart. Take the front apart with these 4 screws. dry it out with a q-tip. There should be four more screws inside - take those apart and dry clean. Pull the face off and dry the large white plate that receives all the button action. I put it all back together and my buttons worked again. I didn't even feel like I did anything to fix it because it wasn't really wet inside, i think there was just a micro-dot of moisture on that white plate. I hope it works for you. I was so excited about mine that I got on here to tell others. But hey - I also prayed about it and God cares even about the little things!!!!! Now - I've got the battery out and am leaving it out for a couple of days just to make sure that its totally drive because any water in there could still damage the phone if there is a power source. GOOD LUCK!

As long as you are careful - it will come apart - You can pull apart everything that is not glued. From my memory, once you see the screen, there is a black piece to the right that has 4 more screws - you can take those out and pull apart more pieces. Be careful not to rip those orange ribbon looking things that hold the front and back of the whole phone together. The white plate is between the very front piece of your phone and the screen that you are seeing. It does pull apart. You need to get to the big white plate and wipe it if you have hopes for those front buttons. it might be too late but it worked for me. Just go really slowly and try to avoid becoming frustrated when you are working with the phone. GOOD LUCK!

I'm no expert, just an average jane who fixed her own phone without buying a new one. replacement at walmart: $300. I was too scared to even check how much through verizon!

I've never taken apart an LG enV2, but I don't think it's as easy as you may think; the front cover just doesn't pop off. You'll need to take the phone completely apart to gain access to the keypad/keyboard.

99.99% of the time you start by removing the back panel and battery. You will probably need a set of "T-4 through T-8" security bits to take the phone apart.

With a T bit set (aka star bit), surgeon hands, and patience you should be able to take the phone apart; just keep track of where each screw goes because they may be different sized screws.

Moreover, most phones are a combination of screws and clips that snap together. Much care is need so that you don't break the snap by forcing it too hard; this is the patience part.

The original enV (first) Chocolate 1, Chocolate 2, and VX8500, the keypad is not attached to the board. Only the QWERTY keyboard is attached; at least on the first enV.

Here is a link for the internal parts of the enV2:

.ExternalClass .ecxhmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass body.ecxhmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Tahoma;} ok for all of you people i am good at taking apart and fizxing phones and for people that dont know how to pop caps off from the back and inside of phone youre retarded, and the only thing that you have to be careful with when taking apart env2(i have taken apart and fixed mine many many times until i got sick of it and got env1 which has tank parts. anyway the thing you haveto watch when taking apart phone is the ribbon that goes on the left side of the phone and into the front. its tricky to get out and you have to push this thing to get it to go through. AND REMENBER... DONT EVER EVER EVER TRY TO FORCE THE RIBBON THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. THE METAL FRAME IN FRONT PART OF IT WILL BREAK EASILY AND IF THAT HAPPENS JUST TAPE IT, BUT NOT TOO MUCH OR YOUR CASE WONT FIT BACK OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KEYPAD PROBLEM

Remove the front cover, lift the rubber keypad and clean the button surface with damp cloth. NOT WET. Allow it to dry for a few minutes, reassemble and start using. Some dust may have gone between the rubber pad and the keys.

I just got a used lg env2 and for sum reason i cant dial out it says press ok key to unlock but nothing happens when i press the ok button. it still shows lock symbol in red color on the left of the front...

Have you tried pressing "Okay" then "Clear"? I know there is two lock features on it, and one is a double button lock. If that doesn't work there could be something wrong with the front keypad. Flip the phone open and see if it lets you unlock it that way.

Front keys will not work on my lg env2

Mine does the samething. Call customer support and let them know your phone is not working and you need a replacement. Mine is getting replaced. Mine started as just the "ok" button now it's moved to the 4-5-6 row. very frustrating.

My env2 wont read my memory card!

this also happened to my phone its not the memory card, its the phone...check if any of your front keyes on your keypad are broken too. Mine where and it was as if the memmory card didnt exist. If this happens you have a 1 year warranty with verizon and you can get a new env2 which is what i just did. they sent me a new one and it works perfectly.

3 buttons on Keypad don't work

If You haven't already, open the phone remove the battery and SIM. I believe you can also remove the front face plate and key pad. Make sure the contacts behind the key pad are dry as well as the underside of the pad itself. Leave the cover and face plate off to allow to dry for as long as possible. If the phone was too wet it may not recover. If it does not you will have to replace it. The cheapest option is a go phone. You can get the Nokia 6010 refurbished online at Cingular for $29.95 and use your current SIM and will be good to go. When you order You will need to select a go phone plan but you do not need to activate it. Good Luck
