If its tripping your breaker either the motor is seized for some reason (easily tested by trying to turn the motor pulley by hand), or something in it is shorted out, most likely thing to short out and trip a house breaker is the heating element.

You can easily test the heating element as the possible cause by taking the 2 wires off the element connector, tape up these wires so it doesn't short out, plug the dryer in and try to run it. If its the heating element shorted out then the dryer will now run without tripping your breaker but of course not heat. If so replace the element.

Hi, have you checked the breaker? It would be a 220 breaker meaning a double handle or heavy duty one in your breaker box. look for one that is slightly out of line or has a small red dash showing..flip it back and forth to re-set.

One of the 2 breakers for dryer flipped off,

This is a strange situation.

I would normally expect a electric dryer to rujn on 220 volts which would be provided through a tandem breaker, When one flips off, the other must flip off, they are fastened to gether.

I would expect a gas dryer to operate on 110 volts and the poser to come throlugh one breaker. The motor would run but that is not to say the gas will burn to make the heat.

I suppose yoj could have a 220 Volt Gas drier, but there would be little benefit based on the added expense of the motor.

If you are certain you have two breakers for your dryer, it might be time to have a electrician take a look-see

Kenmore Model 110 washer humming/popping breaker

Good day,
Anytime an appliance knocks a breaker down, the motor is the obvious culpret.
The first thing to do is remove the motor and take it to an appliance parts house for testing.
If the coupling broke, it is just sometimes just happenstance. In other cases it could be a transmission starting to lock up, which would overtax the motor, and eventually cause it to fail.
Lastley, most models are 2 or three speed. If the timer screws up and tries to run the motor on high and medium or low at the same time it will fry the motor.

One of 2 circut resets keeps tripping on our Generac generator

If it's tripping a breaker that usually means there is to high of an amp draw on that curcuit.

Are you plugging more things into that particular curciut (or just different but higher amp draw items) than you did last year?

It's also possible that one of the items plugged into that curcuit is wearing out and drawing more amps than before.

If you have an amp meter, plug everything back up just the way it was when you were having problems. Check the main wire going to that curcuit. (right at the breaker)

If your amp draw is greater or nearly the same as the amprating of that particular circuit, then thats your problem.
To many things/to high amp draw on one circuit.

If it is not near the amp rating, and you are getting proper voltage to the breaker, then I would replace that breaker.

Whirlpool Electric Dryer Won't Start

Your dryer has a non-resettable "thermal safety fuse" part number 3392519 which stops the machine dead when the temperature near the heater gets too high. Typically a restricted vent system causes this so you definitely want to check that before replacing it. A failed control thermostat can also cause this so check the operating temp too.

the problem might be the start switch itself. if the switch is going bad it could have either a carbon buildup on the contacs preventing it from starting (unlikely) or the contacs are wearing out and it is more hit or miss if it will start. as time goes on the problem will get wose
