Question about Panasonic TH-50PX60U 50 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

Phillips 42", LCD TV Cuts out and skips on HD, including sound

Breaking up, like shorting out. Have extended warranty, and Best Buy says it's the cable box, and the Times Warrner, says it's the TV. What do you think is going on. The TV is 1 1/2 year old.

Only have 1 cable plugged in, and running everything, so the suggested solution was not correct, for me. Thanks so much for tryinh. I'm still pretty sure it's the stupid, Times-Warner, cable company. Again, thanks so much for the answer. TAMoan1938@aol.com

If pix is breking up in small squares, freezing then going back to normal, tha sonds like a cable problem. to verify this, use video-1 input for cable box and see if the problem occurs. if it does unhook cable box from tv video-1 input and plug dvd player into that same input. if it never breaks up on dvd, the problem is in cable signal. if still breaks up tv is problem. mch

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps
