Question about Dell XPS One All-in-One TV Desktop with Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E4500 - (PRODUCT) RED

2 Answers

How do you turn on the built in webcam ? I just bought a Dell XPS One and cannot figure out how to use the webcam. There's no desktop icon, and the owner's manual has no reference in the toc to the camera. The index has no entries under camer, photos, or webcam. (Who wrote that!) Any suggestions welcome.

Hi

Please Go to Control Panel and from there select Scanners and Camera if you can see the Camera Icon over there then double click it to acess your camera if not then insert your motherboard CD to install the drivers of the Webcam.

Have you installed the driver of your Webcam properly? If not install the drivers properly and check. If after this it is not working then it might be a problem with the device, replace the device with a new one.

AIM VIDEO CHAT NOT WORKING

Make sure that you have only one application using the webcam. Eg. if you have the webcam working in yahoo it will not be accessable in AIM. Also try to uninstall and reinstall the most recent version of AIM.

Can't use the built in cam for Yahoo Messenger.

Some webcams have this problem in combination with Yahoo.
I was able to fix this by using a program called SplitCam. I allows for webcam sharing, but it also is compatible with most webcams. You can install it and then use that as the video source in Yahoo.
I found a nice description about using SplitCam for this.

Hope it works for you.
