Try using the Office 2003 removal tool. Just download the Office 2003 Editions Resource Kit at this link. It's called ork.exe:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/orkarchive/2003ddl.htm

After it's installed followed these directions:

To locate the tool, click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, point to Microsoft Office Resource Kit, and then click Removal Wizard.

Then follow the on screen instructions that will walk you through the removal. After Office is completely removed, restart and try to reinstall.

Hope this helps!

Hmnnn, probably you had a free edition of office suite application installed on your computer which will be valid for only 60 days. If you wish to continue using all the application of office suite, you will have to purchase the full version of office suite.
-See the following link for the price comparison: http://news.office-watch.com/t/n.aspx?articleid=1360&zoneid=10 If you wish to continue using the free trial version again, you will have to install different version of office trial suite again. -For example, If you had Office 2010 Home and Student trial edition installed on the computer before and it is expired, you can uninstall it and install the Office 2010 Professional trial edition on the computer which will be valid for another 60 days.
Link: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/try/
However, you also have the option of using the open office suite which is absolutely free. The open office suite provides all the features and functionality of the Microsoft application.
You can download the open office suite for free from the following link:

"access denied" in XP

<p>Introduction:<br /> <p>When installing or uninstalling the printer driver, a message may appear stating that <span>access is denied</span>. This may occur in Windows 2000 or XP. It may be necessary to edit the registry of the computer to resolve this issue. <br /> <p>Editing the registry with the instructions in this document may bypass security profiles. Please consult your system administrator.<br /> <p>According the instructions below, first check the service pack on your computer, and if necessary update it. If the issue is not resolved, proceed and edit the registry.<br /> <p>Instructions:<br /> <p><b>Step 1: Check the service pack</b> <br /> <p>The issue may be resolved by updating the service pack, if the most recent service pack is not already installed. To check which service pack is installed on the computer, complete the following steps: <br /> <ul> <li> <p><b>Windows XP:</b> Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. Under System:, the service pack is listed. <br /> <li> <p><b>Windows 2000:</b> Right-click My Computer and then click Properties. Under System:, the service pack is listed. <br /></li></ul> <p>Make a note of the service pack information. <br /> <p>On the Microsoft Web site, find the Windows Update information. Check to verify the latest service pack and whether it is installed on your computer. If necessary, follow the instructions provided by Microsoft, or contact Microsoft for help, to install the service pack.<br /> <p>If the error message returns and you are unable to install or uninstall the printer driver, proceed to Step 2.<br /> <p><b>Step 2: Edit the Registry</b> <br /> <p>Window maintains most of the information about your computer and its programs in a file called the registry. It is important to backup the registry before editing it. If mistakes are made when editing the registry, your computer may not function properly. Having a backup copy of a working registry will allow you to restore your computer to a working state if mistakes are made while editing the registry.<br /> <p><b>Backing up the Registry</b> <br /> <p>Complete the steps in this section to backup the Windows registry. <br /> <ol> <li> <p>Click Start and then click Run. <br /> <li> <p>In the Open box, type regedit. Click OK. <br /> <li> <p>In the Registry Editor, select My Computer. <br /> <li> <p>In Windows 2000, click Registry and then Export Registry. <br /> <p>In Windows XP, with My Computer highlighted, click File and then Export. <br /> <li> <p>Browse to a file location that will be easy to remember. <br /> <li> <p>Under Export Range, select All. <br /> <li> <p>Type in a filename. Suggestion: registry_backup with the current date. <br /> <li> <p>Click Save to save the backup copy of the register. <br /></li></ol> <p><b>Editing the Registry in Windows XP</b> <br /> <p>To make the necessary changes to the registry in Windows XP, follow these instructions: <br /> <ol> <li> <p>Click the ( <b>+</b>) next to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE. <br /> <li> <p>Click the ( +) next to SOFTWARE. <br /> <li> <p>Right-click Hewlett-Packard, then click Permissions. 1
  • Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Control Panel."
  • 2 Double-click the "Add or Remove Programs" icon. This icon is labeled "Programs and Features" in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Hi. 25 character product key for microsoft office home and student edition.............I need it?

There is a software called Belarc which is free and will tell you all the product keys of the software that you have installed on your system. I'm not sure if Office 2003 is upgradable to 2007. Seems like it should be with possibly a "small fee" from MicroSoft. Call them if you get the key, if not there are other ways that they can tell when you bought it.
You are talking about legal versions right????

I own the student/teacher edition of Microsoft office 2003. Unfortunately I am unsure of the product key. Is there anyway to install this software on a new computer without re-purchasing the program?

I suggest you forget about MS Office and download open office instead. It is free and there are no license keys to deal with

If you still want to install this program, I think you will have to call MS about the product key. The information is stored on the computer the software is installed on in the registry. You should also have the disk with the product code on it.
